I have checked with MOE this morning and they replied there's no new pri school at the said location but there's one in Fernvale Rd (in 2013) near Fernvale LRT. I believe the construction there is for the new General Hospital which was announced few months back and not pri school.
? is there a new prmary school in sengkang ??itskryptic:
I think you can expect the intake to drop soon especially when the new primary school opens nearby. currently, there's only anchor green to absorb the excess of the residents nearby but when this new pri school opens, u can expect ncps' intake to drop significantly.
where exactly is this new pri school? it's at the junction of seng kang east way and anchorvale link. it's the new construction site some 50m away. they've started piling so u can expect the school to open its doors as early as 2013.
those non phase 1 or pv parents, u can start documenting the building of ur child's future school esp if they're going to go into P1 in 2013.
single session means smaller intake for ncps. more schools nearby means smaller intake. all signs point to it so as parents, we shud stop living in a fairytale world la. otherwise, we'll end up being disappointed.
Anyway, I don't agree that just because of a new pri school nearby, the intake at NCPS will/must drop when it goes single session. There are pri school (famous ones) that maintain the same intake even after going single session. It also doesn't do any good to school since the catchment will be smaller for bright students to boost its ranking. I believe as far as possible, NCPS will want to keep its current P1 intake of 300. Lets wait for more details to unveil.
In fact, with AGPS and NCPS, they have served the demand well and I see no need for a new pri school at the vicinity. -

I am confuse also now. It's MOE staff who called and replied me over phone. He told me there's only 1 new pri school in Sengkang West in the next few yrs. If really it's a pri school, isn't it weird to have it next to upcoming Hospital? What a combination!http://www.sengkang.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12184&sid=8c12148d3632f1775f038469e3120c3a

The hospital will not be opposite the temple, it will be nearer to the Sengkang Hub , where the polyclinic is.
There will be a new EC next to this new primary school. -

I think it should be Anchorvale Horizon, Right? The hospital will not be opposite the temple, it will be nearer to the Sengkang Hub , where the polyclinic is.

BINGO..
with this current GEP for P3, if a child is really GOOD, no matter which school they go to, they would pass this GEP test and could transfer to GEP school. Whether they can start off with NCPS or not , its not a critical point.
A gifted child would not be bury just cos' he/she goes to neighbourhood school and not going to NCPS... which is also a neighbourhood school BTW. -
next time u drive or walk past, I suggest u stop n look at the construction board they put up. \"proposed erection of a primary school .... \"
I dun think it gets any clearer than that. before I post up smth, I normally do my \"homework\".
it's good that u called moe to check but they probably told u abt the school opening in 2012 and this one is most likely going to be opened in 2013 or later.
it's simple math, to operate as a single session school, if ncps continues to take in 300 per year, they won't be able to fit so many classes esp when PERI kicks in and p3 - p6 classes too get smaller gradually. they're looking to decrease teacher-student ratio, so, they'll prob run out of classrooms eventually. let's just face it, when the new pri school opens up, the intake for ncps and agps will drop so the spread is more equal.
and I'm sure that empty plots of land wun remain empty for long.timtim:

MOE staff must be sleeping early in the morning then. I just thought it's so weird to have a school there, out of nowhere. Honestly, I think for such a small Sengkang West area, there's too many pri schools, not sure what MOE is trying to do. Fernvale is not big and a new school coming up so why the hurry to keep building, it's all our tax payer's $, imagine the birthrate is dropping, who will fill up the vacancies created by all these schools...becomes white elephant.next time u drive or walk past, I suggest u stop n look at the construction board they put up. \"proposed erection of a primary school .... \"

Nope. Timtim. I think every year the APP & TUR is increasing, under Sengkang area Primary Schools
 That's why govt needs to build up more primary school in this area.
