next time u drive or walk past, I suggest u stop n look at the construction board they put up. \"proposed erection of a primary school .... \"

I dun think it gets any clearer than that. before I post up smth, I normally do my \"homework\".

it's good that u called moe to check but they probably told u abt the school opening in 2012 and this one is most likely going to be opened in 2013 or later.

it's simple math, to operate as a single session school, if ncps continues to take in 300 per year, they won't be able to fit so many classes esp when PERI kicks in and p3 - p6 classes too get smaller gradually. they're looking to decrease teacher-student ratio, so, they'll prob run out of classrooms eventually. let's just face it, when the new pri school opens up, the intake for ncps and agps will drop so the spread is more equal.

and I'm sure that empty plots of land wun remain empty for long.
Yap. In Singapore, almost every piece of Land is precious. Not to says there will be \"Empty\" plots of land lying around. πŸ˜„

MOE staff must be sleeping early in the morning then. I just thought it's so weird to have a school there, out of nowhere. Honestly, I think for such a small Sengkang West area, there's too many pri schools, not sure what MOE is trying to do. Fernvale is not big and a new school coming up so why the hurry to keep building, it's all our tax payer's $, imagine the birthrate is dropping, who will fill up the vacancies created by all these schools...becomes white elephant.

Nope. Timtim. I think every year the APP & TUR is increasing, under Sengkang area Primary Schools 😞 That's why govt needs to build up more primary school in this area.

Also, for another reference regarding birth rates :

Children of FTs lor, esp those near to >5yo flats...
A few plots of land near Compass Height (ie. <1km to NCPS) r on sale for condo development too. So competition for vacancies will heat up if the condo buyers r here bcos of the sch, or simply when SK population increases.

Btw, seems like most of the pri sch in SK r having upgrading these few years:

We need to look at long-term, not short or medium term. In some good \"animal\" yrs, of course birthrate will go up. But in long-term, we know it's going downhill. Just look at what youngsters want nowadays. Even people are getting married later with no intention of having kid.

Isn't PR Singaporeans can also apply under all Phases, together with Singapore Citizens ? The Birth rates calculated as under Singapore Citizens but not PR right ? :?

Timtim is right. When enrolment time comes for those born in the year dragon, vacancies will go up. During the year of enrolment for the year 2000 babies, the enrolment for NCPS was 360. After that it remains stable at 300 for the past few years.

However, in the past few years, the school is also in the process of phasing in modular teaching, which will probably be fully implemented for all subjects by next year. So going by the need for classrooms for modular teaching for all subjects, plus need for better resource room for ICT / future school responsibilities, plus the need to go single session for 2013, space needed to accomodate all the teachers into a single session and possible reduction to teacher : pupils ration, I also foresee reduction in intake.

                        Hi,

My girl last year maths teacher was Mrs Chuang. Though she's fierce but I find it is good for my girl as she really study hard and her maths improved a lot .

This year, all her classmates from what I understand , there's once when Mrs Chuang came to their P2 class and talk to their teacher, at first was very noisy but all of the students was suddenly very quiet.
