Lurpak and President (unsalted) are really good so I use for toast or cakes or biscuits.
Does Lurpak really taste nicer? Hmmm, maybe must try it one of these days.. Is it a lot more expensive than SCS and Golden Churn?Happy Mama:

Lurpak comes in salted and unsalted to. I quite like tha flavour, but it's more expensive, so don't buy it unless I'm baking something special. I prefer to buy my butter from Phoon Huat than the supermarkets. Cheaper.
I've tried Phoon Huat's butter for my bakes too.. Can't really tell the difference. Heehee!
But too expensive for breadmaking so I use scs.
Yeah, I'm very Sensitive to the Buttery Smell of Butter.
Never take it since young as I Cannot Tahan the Smell, esp the SCS ones. But Ok With Marjerin.
But I can Take Lurpak Butter.
Used to Buy it A Few Years Back when it's Price is Still OK. Now Too Expensive -liao.
And Am Buying from Phoon Huat instead. -

May I know what's the difference between Lurpak and SCS? You mean Lurpak has no buttery smell, yet tastes awesome? Both you and autumnbronze are really making me very curious about Lurpak.

MummyThreeStreams:
Salt masks the sweet taste of butter, so you lose the nice butter flavor that good unsalted butter delivers in a baked product. Also, the amount of salt in the butter varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, so you can't control the amount of salt that goes in, and there is a danger that the product becomes over salted. If you do use salted, and the recipe calls for salt to be added, you should probably reduce the amount of salt to take into account the salt content of the salted butter. I bake only with unsalted, and haven't done a taste test between using salted and unsalted. but i don't think the taste difference will be very significant, though if you have sensitive taste buds, you should stick with unsalted. Hope this helps!
Then Think I Must Have SUPER .... Insensitive Taste Buds -lor!
Anyone Can Enlighten Me on What's the difference on using Salted and Unsalted Butter? :?Funx3:
Phoon Huat has it. Otherwise you can get from supermarkets. SCS butter carries both salted and unsalted.
When I Bake, I just use Whatever is Available in my Fridge ....
But Have Not Detect Much Difference in my Cakes, etc ....
Ha Ha ....

And Thanks MummyThreeStreams for the Explaination!
