Science Guide Books

Hi Janet,
For Science guide and assessment, you will need to keep them all from P3 onwards.
Hi Champion,
I have Lower Block 'Everything you need to know about Science'.
*Not practical bcos it is too in-depth and doesn't quite relate to topics/what will be tested. Personally that's what I think.
Science Booster.
*Purely for reading bcos again it doesn't relate...good as reading material. Honestly, I feel like selling off Science Booster A & B.
Yes agrees - during the Parents-Teacher-Meeting, the Principal stresses a lot that we need to keep all the books & notes for Science from P3 onwards till PSLE. Yes, I am also clearing up space in the cabinet so that I can store DD1's books + notes + guide & assessment books.
For the above 2 books - I did browse thru when in Popular but did not land a hand to buy it as I was looking for something that is detailed but easily understood

Janet,HI Ladies,
Son just completed 2 thematic tests on Cycles.
*Longman Weekly is bearable and for keeping the brain working.
*Oxford Science (2 squirrels on cover) is not bad. By Teo-Gwan Wai Lan.
I really :salute: you - I guess - no should not use \"guess\"
- should be \"very sure\" you have the whole range of Science Assessment + guide books at Home! :!: ...How does your son find time to do? My DD1 is so \"reluctant\"
to co-operate with me to do assessment books! And this morning we just have a fight over doing past year exam papers :spank:
Haha...sorry for my \"kapoh-ness\", I upload the above 2 books you mentioned - the pic here to share with others :hi5:

Thanks for uploading the pics of the 2 books.
He was supposed to get them done last night, but mummy here needed a break, so we went to Orchard after tuition yesterday...sure felt good :imcool: in fact told hubby must do this more often...hahaha.
My son co-operates with me where Science assessment is concerned...bcos he likes the subject. If I give him 2 Math assessment instead, he will complain & whine for the next 1/2 hour.
Haven't started past year papers yet...now focusing on assessment book. -

Guess due to the tons of homeworks over this weekend + her tution class h/w & corrections, my gal is totally burnt out

....
The whole of today, she only managed to do 1 EL Worksheet on grammar & 1 Science MCQ :faint:...Hubby took her & DD2 for grocery shopping in the late morning and she took a 1.5 hour nap after lunch. Then Dear Hubby said, \"Ok, Let's go do some exercise - how about a bicycle ride round the neighbourhood?\" There it goes - it won't be before Dinner time that they will be back
Frankly speaking, I am :x that Dear Hubby did not support me to push DD1 to do more revision. But on the other hand, I must admit that I do want her to relax a bit :imcool: . Ok, very \"contradicting\" mummy here!
Just hope she will co-operate with me better else It will be my turn to
:faint: :clubmyself:

Can be very frustrating :x  when mummy here wants revision (NEAR SA1) done and hubby wants to play VERY good guy by bringing kids out and getting them all tired. Chill out is fine but not over-done. Had agreement with son...if he takes a nap, I will get him go play tennis.

Hello Janet & other mummies/daddies in upper primary,
Need your advice on this - During last week P3/P4 Workshop held in DD1's school ( I did not attend but a parent told me the info) that the HOD advise parents to get the following guide book:-
http://postimage.org/image/27kxlk0pw/
I know this is one of the recommended book after following this thread so far....but my question is that - since now DD1 is only at P3, will it be too early to get this book especially at times the assessment or guide books get reprinted twice or even thrice in a year! Usually, try to get the latest edition so that the infos are the most updated!

Personally, I prefer PSLE Ultimate Science more than the one recommended by HOD. Regardless of no of times it is reprinted, the present syllabus is new - split into upper and lower block, so you can check up new info from website. No worries.Need your advice on this - During last week P3/P4 Workshop held in DD1's school ( I did not attend but a parent told me the info) that the HOD advise parents to get the following guide book:-

Yes, am faithfully using the Lower Block Ultimate Science Guide at home especially this period - when DD1 has Science Worksheet for homework almost every alternate day
. One thing I feel comforted is that she is learning to use the notes in that book to answer her OE question and even for MCQ question, teacher requires them to give reason for their choice . Haha....really worth the investment

Champion, I have the MC Science guide (in addition to the other science guides
). The 2nd edition was printed last year, I think. The 1st and 2nd edition had not much content changes, they only re-organised the information.
I would recommend to buy it at P3 especially if your child does not read much other science related books (flimsy textbooks, limited science lesson time in school etc). I find the MC guide is better/easy for children to read while the EPH guides have more information/experiments for zooming into specific areas.
The MC guide is widely regarded as the must-get among my friends (with older children) and also recommended by science HODs in my ds's and friends' kids schools.
