washing machine?
-
I’m using Fisher & Paykel - bought for I think $800+ in 2003. Had to change some control thingy once (for about 2-300+) but otherwise machine still running ok.
Given the choice to redo, I think I will buy those el-cheapo top load at 300 instead. Spoil already buy new one; rather than have to worry about repair.
Front load is good becos of hot water option; but I love that top load only takes 40 min to complete. My mum’s ex-front load machine could take 2 hours!! -

Thanks for your feedback, hquek.
So, among the $300+ top loads, do you have any recommendation? -
Mine is National, bought in 1996, still standing strongly!

I tend to go for Japan, then Korean models. I know these are probably made in Thailand/Indo - it's probably the perception.hquek:

Useful thread. Need some advise from kiasu you
We are using Electrolux washer and dryer for some years now. No compliant.
But our maid like to stuff the washer very full so we have replaced the motor 2 times due to overheating. Told her many times try not to do this, but we do understand sometimes she just want to clear the dirty clothings. OK fair.
Now the question. Trust I should buy the next time a bigger capacity / load washer? I guess the water and electrical consumption will be more, say, comparing a 6kg to a 8kg model.
Care to share your view please? Thanks! -
How big is your family? I think the only problem you facing now is washer overloaded. Get the maid to wash it in 2 cycle, specify once in the morning and once at night. Unless you can fill up the 8kg washer at every wash or else dun buy it. It’s a waste of electricity and water!
We are a family of 4, using 6.5kg Electrolux washer & dryer for 5yrs. Recently, our washer give out very loud noise. Not sure what’s wrong, waiting for technician to come service it. Hopefully, changing some minor parts can get the machine work again. -
Which brand of washing machine (top loader) is good? Do not require many complicated function, most important is cheap & good. Looking at 8kg to 9kg where budget around $300-$450. Of course I'm open to extend my budget as I heard that Samsung, LG are quite good?
Any expert can share which brand is good & what brand to avoid? If you have lobang where can get it cheap do let me know.I heard some trading shop where just quote the brand & they will give a COD to us.

My 1st washing machine is electrolux front load and it lasted for 10years before it decide to R.I.P this week. It was good… Quiet and user friendly. I love the short wash programme too. So went shopping today with high hopes in getting another electrolux. But was told now all electrolux made in thailand… Can tell… The feel of the rubber is really different from what i had which was made in italy. Ended up buying brandt recommended by the salesman. Hopefully it will serve me as long as my dear electrolux… Fingers crossed…

I am a believer of continental brand. I wanted to buy Electrolux but the model’s filter is inside the drum which takes up space. In the end, I bought LG. It is very quiet. The only thing I don’t like is it uses little water, I have the feeling that the laundry won’t be clean enough.
Difference between front and top is that former has hot water function. -

Yes, for top load, you can dump a few clothes inside when it is still washing.our electrolux has been with us for 10 years now still like brand new leh no problem at all.
front-loading is better coz u can see whats happening inside but top loading u can open the top n disrupt the machine to retrieve something maybe a comb or coins.
For front load, I guess this isnt possible.
You mentioned you have used electrolux front load? Does it consume much water and electricity?
