Good ones, talk to them, ask them whether they want to come back to work or not, etc, etc. Back home got no job, have to come out again, new loan, etc. Increase their salary blah, blah.


New maid, you are subject to uncertainty. As long as everyone in the family is well, it is worthwhile considering extending the contract.

Well, human is a complicated lot…so different people have different experiences and expectation. Nobody is perfect.

As for bad ones, one suggestion is to inform the agency in advance your action if you planning to send her back early. Let them pick her up from your place to the airport.

In both scenarios, they themselves know the contract expiry date since they acknowledge payment (salary) every month. Some of them are smarter than we think.

There are too many stories, good and bad ones.

For example, even if the maid is a little slow, but if she took care of your children or old folks properly and with respect…what else you want more?

yes, it doesnt mean they can stay in sg forever but at least they can make your life hell.[/quote]exactly. They have nothing to lose. But the employer has his reputation, time etc to lose. Especially if the accusation is rape etc.

better don’t take the risk, if you don’t want time and money to be wasted. i understand that even you cancel the work permit the maid have not depart sg, you still responsible for her.

I agree that 1 month is reasonable but if she gives problem at the last leg of work stint, then you are better off without giving any notice. Protect your family first before anything else.

I think it depends on your reason for not renewing. If you have just decided that you no longer need or want a maid and she has generally been a good worker then it is only fair to give her a few months to find a new employer if she wants to stay in Singapore. If you send her back home she will have to start all over again.


If you are willing to pay you can always send her back to stay with the agent during that time if you would prefer not to have her in the house.

Hi may I know why you are not renewing? If she is an ok maid, I am actually looking for one. Prefer by recommendation than get an unknown quality from agency. My Indo maid of 7 years wants to go home to get married. So I am looking for one to start in July.
