Hi can anyone enlighten me on which is the affiliated secondary school for CHIJ OLQP? Thinking of putting DD there (registering next year) instead of MGS (I am under Phase 2c 1-2km, so very slim chance) though I like the CCA in MGS.

      Here you are: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/affiliated-schools-listing

Thanks to BigDevil, you can find out such information at your fingertips.

          Hi jeanieg!

          Yes! I am a big fan of E.T. He's sooooo cute! 😉

Wow! You actually watched 5 times! :!: Even though I like E.T. very much, and I have the DVD, I haven't watched it 5 times in all yet.

            Hi,

I’m looking for admission for my daughterin Primary 1. We are Singapore Primary Residents. We wanted to shift her to a Girls Primary School. Any ideas which schools will have vacancies now. We are ok to shift our residence nearer to the school

            regards,
            bsk

I am contemplating 3 choices for my gal. Can parents out there help me analyse which is the better choice in terms of an all-rounded education and higher chances of admission? I am at Phase 2B for all. I intend to move within 1km of the school shortlisted.

              1) CHIJ St Nicholas
              2) CHIJ Toa Payoh
              3) CHIJ OLGC

              Thanks!

                1) CHIJ St Nic is a SAP school...so be prepared for lots of stress if you really put your daughter there. SIL's daughter is there...100% pass for PSLE.

                2) My daughter is in IJ TP...teachers are dedicated and caring. Principal is motherly.

Hi Cherrygal, I can only give you my impressions of IJ TP and SNGS based on my experience and that of the people I know. I don't know anything about IJ OLGC.

It is so hard to compare schools beyond academic results (which can be obtained from their websites and that of their affiliated secondary schools). Both schools have affiliated secondary schools that have different cut off points, so that is one area for you to examine.

If a Catholic education is important to you...I'm told that IJ TP has a stronger Catholic focus. This is from some Catholic parents I've spoken to.

A discernible difference between the two is their racial and cultural composition, if that is a consideration for you. Being a SAP school, SNGS is largely Chinese. IJ TP is culturally more mixed. The social and economic profiles of the girls/parents in both schools are, however, similar to me.

I know of parents (alumni) from either school who have placed their daughters in 'the other' school, ie IJ TP mum, daughter in SNGS or SNGS mum, daughter in IJ TP. And then there are girls transferring between the two schools. I have even heard of one mum who has one daughter in each school! They each have their own motivations and considerations...and so must you. 😄

Hope this helps in some small way.

Thanks Janet and Beanstalk! Both schools have their good points which means I still can't make up my mind... :stupid:

If you intend to move to 1 km within sch before the 2B registration…

St Nic - Usually will ballot.
IJ TPY - So far no ballot.
IJ OLGC - So far no ballot.

If you don’t move before 2B registration, ie, you are out of 2km
                      St Nic - No chance
                      IJ TPY - No chance
IJ OLGC - May have chance.

                      In terms of Sec Schs…
                      St Nic - beside
                      IJ TPY - beside
                      IJ OLGC - Sengkang

My friend eyed St Nic at 2B for long time but went for OLGC instead. Small school, small cohort, but her dd is very happy there.

Yes, both school have own merits.
St Nic does accept PV but hard chance of being accepted. SIL doesn't know whether to continue with St Nic (sec) for daughter next year bcos it is a SAP sec school and her daughter is very stressed.

IJ TP has a mix of diff races now...Indians, Chinese and Malays. St Nic mostly Chinese as it is a SAP school. A friend of mine told me her cousin is trying to transfer her daughter to IJ TP from St Nic.
