Altyhough website says IP in SJI will start in 2013, any chance of it happening in 2012 like Victoria and Cedar?

Sorry did not attend TJC open house for sec 3 entrants to skip O levels.

My view is that IP will be better from Sec 1 in same school. Disruption at Sec 3, despite skipping O levels , at a brand new environment may have social and culltural negative mpact on the young kid esp when he wants to have bonding with classmates for life .

The most important age for lifelong friends is from Sec 1 to Sec 4 and to take that away from the kid to skip O levels may impact the kid’s overall well being.
My humble take on this matter. Of course, I stand corrected.

you are in one way correct. I too agree with you, but now the time has changed and as there is no IP for our kids in sji-2012… its better to think out of box. Change according to the sutivations . With this hectic CCA i really wonder how this boy is going to do well in exams. VJC open house is on april 30th .

                Hi rubydoll,

My ds in SJI is in 2 CCAs, one performing art and one cultural society since he is taking HMT. He also had to attend 3 days of CCA a week due to the SYF. But now excused from one CCA to concentrate on the one he is performing for SYF. Initially he was very stressed (every time he heard that he had to stay back for CCA, he cried. Yes, cried, in front of me), but now he is adapting and enjoying it. I’m really glad for that.

How is your son taking the 3 times/ week hockey training? Is it until the hockey competition only? Maybe it will be only 2 times/week after the competition. There will be stand-down from all CCAs before school exams.

                  HI MUSETT

Thank you for the reply. Yes from today there is a stand -down of CCA till the exam. He enjoys hockey, but i noticed his study time has reduced and even during reading also he complains of pain here and pain there.
I noticed he need to cover a lot in all his subjects. So today i told him to make use of the coming days THE BEST.Hope he will.!!!

Actually, I find the group work for blogging, etc ivery disturbing cos his team mate has little or no contribution at all and my DS has to do most of the work.

And my DS has to call and chase them to submit their input and they just simply bochap and ignore the dateline.

As it stands for this year, there are 2 JCs’ that take Sec 3 kids for their IP program and skip O levels, viz,

                      VJC and TJC.
MOE has announced that for TJC starting in 2013, it will start taking Sec 1 and no more Sec 3 just like NJC 2 years back.
For VJC, it will stop taking Sec 3 from 2013 as the 2 feeder schools, VS and Cedar Girls will retain and have IP students from Sec 1 to Sec 4 but skip O levels. Therefore VJC will purely be a JC for the 2 years’ A levels.

Question: If our kids transfer over in 2012 from Sec 2 this year to VJC, what would be the quality of the teachers , who are curently teaching the IP in Sec 3 and Sec 4, and education in VJC, who eventually will be transferred out since VJC will no longer cover Sec 3 to Sec 4 come 2013. Surely there wil be a negative impact on our so called final year transferees from Sec 3 next year being final year. Seems like lost child as VJC focus will purely be on JC1 and JC 2 students henceforth.

For TJC, scenario is much better as it wil be a full fledged School taking Sec 1 to JC 2 from 2013 like NJC. Thus curriculum and teaching resources wil be strengthened consderably unlike the final year for VJC.
Less impact on our kids who wish to transfer to Sec 3 next year to the College.
