True, to each his own. We’d have to know what’s the best appropriate way to handle our children, depending on the situations.

Talking about whether our children like the idea of us knowing too much about them in school, haha. I was telling my husband that now my son still likes the idea of me helping under PSG. I will wait for the day when he chases me back home!

lolz. so treasure the moment while you can now.
i did notice that while ds1 likes to hold my hand, if his best friend is around, he'll 'fidget' a bit. lolz! grow up already ah...

Must be becos he's a guy since I don't think my DD will do this. I think my DD will love it if either sashimi or me or both(!) can join her sch's PSG.

My girl forbids me to call her 'baby' anywhere within 100m from her school 👅

My DD has told me before to drop the \"little\" in my pet name for her. I haven't complied all the time though. 😉 Maybe I need to choose pet names that can last longer, like \"sweetheart\" which is what sashimi calls her.

haha, this is hilarious...they're at that stage now...\"don't call me baby...I'm not a baby anymore!\" think of what they'd be at teenage! 😢

Anyway, my gal's school is one of those RARE ones who still have SA1 etc. I was pleasantly pleased to receive the handout on her \"wholistic\" report so I thought and shared with DH...very good, they're beyond academics....nearly did a handstand...

Then guess what? The moment I sat down, her form teacher said. \"what did you think of her English results?\" :stupid: Warao! I wanted to hit her with my handbag! I started sputtering (literally!) coz I knew her results but am one of those parents who want to know \"how to get there\" rather than what the finishing line is...to me, that is life skills which'd get her through life, not just 12 years of formal schooling right?

Then she said \"oh, she didn't tell you about it huh? I told the girls to tell their parents already\" Aiyoh, I didn't even blame her for anything? (this is the teacher who said she checked my gal's bag for the required cheque and made me run down to school mid-afternoon from work <WE found cheque intact in girl's bag later that evening>; and claimed to call me on my mobile when she fell <incidentally>)

We're really after how the kids are coping in school, how they are relating to people and peers and the teachers. It was an eye-opener for DH and myself coz we are so used to the kindy giving the lowdown on P.I.L.E.S i.e., Physical-Intellect-Language-Emotions-Social. Then, :? go to \"regular\" school kenna academic-carelessness-schoolwork related stuff.
Had to DRAG the other aspects out of the teachers  except the MT one who was quite happy providing details on how she's coping with P1 transition. Sigh!

Kekkekke... great post Andaiz... I would have just sat down and glared at her myself. Sad to have such teachers running the lives of our young children... but what to do?

Opppssss...I'm a bit too much am I?

I did not go for the SA2 last year PTC for ds but did so for dd. This year SA 1 I went for ds PTC. I just need to have a feel what his teacher is like, give some feedback and just want to know how ds is doing. A must visit is MT teacher because need her pointer on how to improve ds MT. Happen to be my pal in JC so, lots of pointer received. For dd, I was not able to squeeze my time, so resort to 15 minutes phone calls airing my concern over dd and gathering feedback from the teacher.

Today is the 3rd parent-meeting session for my P1 boy.

Like the previous 2 times, again this is a very fruitful meeting. My boy did not do very well. We discuss the problem, then think of solution try to pull him back. The teacher actually remembers what we discussed the past 2 meeting. We are actually quite sad that my boy did so badly but feel better after talking to her.

Then we meet the mother tongue teacher, he is also a very nice teacher. Past 2 times he‘s very concern about my boy result now he’s glad that he’s keeping up. He then told us my boy is always alone during recess, eat alone or play alone. He asked whether he behaves like that at home or when out. Again, we discuss and hope that my boy will be able to enjoy school and open up.

                      Overall, very fruitful meeting.

                        Hi ctcc

My daughter is extremely quiet and shy too. The teacher helps by re-assigning a new mentor for her and help to group kids that my daughter will be comfortable with. These group of kids will go to recess together. The arrangement helps to pull my daughter out of her shell. I hope your boy will enjoy school and open up too.
