All About Full-Time Maids

well, she need to prepare for my boy's day at cc mah.. but i make sure i allow her 8 hrs of sleep.. that's fair i think... i used to ask her to wake up at 6.30am on wkends so she can get 9hrs of sleep, but then she will purposely leave out some of the tasks on wkends and nv do them... so i took that benefit off, and ask her to wake up earlier to ensure she completes all the tasks..
wow, 5.30am quite early but if you need her to help with preparing children for school, then bobian. Just hang in there until new maid arrives?
My ex PHIL maid also cannot wake up early ( i know she does it like 7plus) coz she helps with caring for my baby at night. Now current maid can wake up at 6.30am every morning coz she has uninterrupted sleep while I wake up at night to make night feeds for my boy. She's lucky liao coz my neighbour's maid wakes up 6am and retires only around 10plus.
I wonder if others are also facing login issues - i kept having trouble accessing this forum until now.
also, she dun have to take care of my toddler at night.. and whenever we are home... cos' we are the main caregivers... her main task is housewk n cooking.. n even cooking, she hasnt mastered most of it!
i guess, the issue is... regardless of 8 or 9 hrs of sleep... she still wakes up late!!!!! :stupid: -

wah.. gumiho, ur maid is quite rude leh... i would be fuming if my maid talks like that! :roll:After reading both of your posts, I feel that my helper should stop comparing herself with other maid because she wake up around 7.30am daily and by 9pm she is preparing for bed.
There once both of us has a dispute, she pissed me off by saying,\"Why should I when the other maids don't need......blah blah...\". :x -
Admummy:
...she's literally behaving like ORD attitude, just now even went to bathe when I was busy with my 2 elder kids and youngest baby wailing for her! Goodness gracious! Also automatic cut down the daily mopping of floor to every 2-3 days once... Haiz I also no choice just act blur and pretend to say eee why floor so dirty lately, hoping she catch the hint...maybe she also no stamina to serve me anymore...why can't she also adopt the ε₯½θε₯½ζ£mentality since our relationship has been cordial all along...haiz in any case, I hope the new maid I've shortlisted is good..
Admummy, sorry, I haven't been catching up with postings in this thread. Is your maid showing colours now that she knows she's leaving?
My last ex-maid started showing a bit of attitude once we confirmed that she's leaving us. When that happened, I just told her mildly that while I have to provide her with an airticket home, there is NOTHING that says what kind of ticket I have to buy.
Ex-maid is an indo and the thing they fear most is transit in Jakarta. I actually told her I can let her sleep one night in JKT airport and transfer to the next available plane x hours later. If her attitude is good, I will minimise that as much as I can. Else, I will choose whatever works.
After that, her attitude started to be okay again.

You should then highlight the stuff that other maids do and she don't have to.After reading both of your posts, I feel that my helper should stop comparing herself with other maid because she wake up around 7.30am daily and by 9pm she is preparing for bed.

hi hquek, can i ask why do they fear transit in Jakarta? My current maid's mom is in Jakarta and her dad is in Java... she once did say she wanna go back to Java... but as her attitude these 2 days is so horrible... i think i can follow ur style too man...

dunno leh, maybe it's becos those officials there may target these pp who come back from overseas work - knowing they are flushed with money? In any case, it can't be too comfortable having to sleep overnight in an airport terminal...and with all that cash on the person.

Also, employer only need to pay for airticket right? Tell her if her attitude sucks, she can pay for the luggage herself.
A bit of bully tactics...but no choice - where our kids and families' life is at stake. If she is good to me, I'll make sure to reciprocrate.
Actually I can't recall what I bought her finally but definitely no overnight in JKT. It was budget air, perhaps even direct flight. There are quite a number of airports in Java...it's really very big. Lion air gives pretty good rates at times. -

oh well, we've treat her well these 2 years too.. even tho she gives me trouble, she gets to eat all good food.. i think she never had instant noodles more than 3x in her life in SG! its always packet food or homecooked food.. wat we eat, she will eat... and we always order her fav drink at the coffeshop or restaurant.. n her drink is more exp than what we drink sometimes!!
she came with no clothes, no extra shoes.. only a pair of jeans n t-shirt.. n we've bot her stuff.. many in fact!! and given her ang pow during cny... just really pissed that she will pull a fast one n suddenly say no extension to her contract...

SMH Forest - she's not appreciative of all the goodwill you rendered then no need to get her a luggage. Let her go buy one herself. They ηε¨η¦δΈδΈη₯η¦οΌ -

I think you should be a bit comforted that at least she tells you BEFORE you buy a ticket for her home leave. Imagine if she said she'll come back and then not appear at the airport on the day of departure from home... :x :x
I was a bit miffed that my ex-maid didn't fulfil her 2 years. But now I take it as a blessing becos if she had, I'm going to have to pay a LOT more to hire a replacement.
