joking here...but if she dare ask for bag to put her stuff; just give her some ntuc plastic bags.
SMH Forest - she's not appreciative of all the goodwill you rendered then no need to get her a luggage. Let her go buy one herself. They 生在福中不知福!

Littlefly - oh well... we moved house not long ago... and her new stuff got so much, that she cldnt fit it into her backpack... so, at that time, i already told her to get her own luggage which she did... to me, the clothes were already the bonus.. n her work were not excellent to the pt that i will buy her the luggage... thank god i didnt!!! -

I Told My Maid Point Blank if Other Family So Good, Go Join Them ....
wah.. gumiho, ur maid is quite rude leh... i would be fuming if my maid talks like that! :roll:gumiho:
After reading both of your posts, I feel that my helper should stop comparing herself with other maid because she wake up around 7.30am daily and by 9pm she is preparing for bed.
There once both of us has a dispute, she pissed me off by saying,\"Why should I when the other maids don't need......blah blah...\". :x
Told Her When Working in My Home, Follow My House Rule. Period.
-
Yes Funx3, I agree with your post. But now I don’t really dare to say that because supply crunch unless of course I meet a maid from hell then cannot "ren"!!!
-
hquek:
Agreed.
I think you should be a bit comforted that at least she tells you BEFORE you buy a ticket for her home leave. Imagine if she said she'll come back and then not appear at the airport on the day of departure from home... :x :x
I was a bit miffed that my ex-maid didn't fulfil her 2 years. But now I take it as a blessing becos if she had, I'm going to have to pay a LOT more to hire a replacement.
My Pal's Maid Go Back On Home Leave in Dec last Year, Suppose to Come Back on 2 Jan 2011 to Extend WP ....
Bought Her Return Ticket, Pay For Some kind of Other Fees (think it's $300+) for her Visa or something like that else cannot Enter spore.
And ....
when My Pal go to Airport to Fetch Her .... Waited Hours in Fact ....
Never Appear!
Her Family got a hard time, What with Next Day Sch Re-opening ....
So Better to send her Packing, then to Let her Play you out, Right? -

dunno leh, maybe it's becos those officials there may target these pp who come back from overseas work - knowing they are flushed with money? In any case, it can't be too comfortable having to sleep overnight in an airport terminal...and with all that cash on the person.
hi hquek, can i ask why do they fear transit in Jakarta? My current maid's mom is in Jakarta and her dad is in Java... she once did say she wanna go back to Java... but as her attitude these 2 days is so horrible... i think i can follow ur style too man...SMH FOREST:

Ex-maid is an indo and the thing they fear most is transit in Jakarta. I actually told her I can let her sleep one night in JKT airport and transfer to the next available plane x hours later. If her attitude is good, I will minimise that as much as I can. Else, I will choose whatever works.
After that, her attitude started to be okay again.
Also, employer only need to pay for airticket right? Tell her if her attitude sucks, she can pay for the luggage herself.
A bit of bully tactics...but no choice - where our kids and families' life is at stake. If she is good to me, I'll make sure to reciprocrate.
Actually I can't recall what I bought her finally but definitely no overnight in JKT. It was budget air, perhaps even direct flight. There are quite a number of airports in Java...it's really very big. Lion air gives pretty good rates at times.
My Prev Maids Told Me that There R Lots Of Gang Milling Around, Preying on Returning Maids in Jakarta Airport. They Believe that these Gangs Have this \"Gong-Tou\" (Some Sort of Spell) that just by talking to the Maids (Or Look into their Eyes, Something Like that), the Maids Will \"Guai-Guai\" Hand over their Money to them ....

SMH FOREST:
She is supposed to wake up at 5.30am everyday... her work schedule ends at 9.30pm (with an hour for her to clean up herself)... total of 8 hours sleep... when i say wake up late, she can wake up late by 20-60mins.. got once, a wkend.. she didnt wake up till 7am! :x
OIC! My maid wakes up everyday at 6.30 am while I wake up at 7 am. My boy will wake up at about 7.30-7.45 am then she will attend to him. On the few rare occasions I woke up at about 7 am and she still has not woke up (& clean herself up, open up the curtains, doors, collect newspapers, put away dinner dishes, boil hot water etc), I would feel :x .
Such times, after I finished brushing my teeth & opening the doors etc (with some noise!), she would have jumped up already, apologize then quickly go about doing her stuff.
At night she went into her room at about 9.30 or 10 pm depending on what time we can settle our boy into the bedroom. Not sure what time she sleeps but definitely not immediately since she would catch up on the news or music on her hand-phone.
Definitely no sleeping beyond 7 am when the sky is already in full brightness outside! :!:
Yup, my maid also told me she does not want to transit in Jakarta. Lots of horror stories of officials extorting money from the maids. She said they will tell you to go from one place to another and each place pay and pay!

Last time Garuda Air has direct flight to Semarang so OK. Then Garuda Air stopped this. She implored me to get direct ticket not transit and I was panicking since I thought gone case. Luckily found Batavia Air has direct flights there so she no need to transit at Jakarta.

Tigger88, sounds like your maid worked long for you ?
Littlefly, my maid will start her 3rd contract with me next month. So she has worked for me for almost 4 yrs already.tigger88:
sometimes i feel should we also have MC/OT for our maid just like our work.. like one year how many days of MC.. if she works over wat time she gets OT $ .. like welfare for them.. will this motivate them to work better. i feel quite bad for them for working whole day and draw so little..(eventhougth the money is a lot in their country)..
If my maid is sick, I will let her rest more. Every time she finishes her 2 years contract, I will give her one month bonus to reward her. I also provide dental benefits, buy her and her children Christmas pressies, celebrate her birthdays with cake and gifts etc. -
Isn’t there a new ruling from MOM that we only have to repatriate the maids to an international port of their domestic country where they can easily find their way back to their hometown?
