Hi Mummies with children from P2,

Did you spend most of the time coaching your daughters in spelling when they were in P1 ?
My daughter is in P1 this year…find myself coaching her in nothing but spelling (either CL or EL) the whole week.
When I emailed the HOD, she told me it’s not big deal learning CL spelling. It’s crazy !

Try to let go abit on spelling/tingxie. Allocate a set amount of time. If she gets it, she gets it. If not, it’s ok. One of my daughters in upper primary had spelling words that were (in my opinion) of secondary level standard (eg ‘fallacious’). As I felt that my daughter would not be using the words until much much later, I told her to try her best to remember them but if she can’t, just do corrections.

Really there are more important areas to help her with. I personally don’t attach much value to spelling and tingxie exercises per se.

                Hi beanstalk,
I take her spelling a little too seriously...and realize we do nothing but learn spelling/tingxie the whole week :stupid: now I will cut down learning them to just the day before. Thanks for your advice.

                  Hi parents of P1,

Any ideas for the coming SA1 is there Maths paper because no mention of the format and indication of the date. Only performance task on 19 May. And for the Chinese Show And Tell which is the actual date 3-6 May or 11-13 May? :?: Thanks a lot.

                    Hi Janet,
I'm also in the same situation as you, spend too much times on both EL and CL spellings :stupid:. Now SA is coming :!:, I don't know how to revise with my dd within such a short times. 😢

She replied me yesterday saying there will be a circular to be issued soon to explain more. Was just telling hubby yesterday with spelling/tingxie, we are not able to do anything the whole week !
With this 'summative assessment' thing coming, I am at a loss and don't know how to find time to revise with her.

For the oral, I thought dates are 11-13th May.
Just wondering why can't the P1s be told when their turn will be...at least don't have to bring the fruit to & fro everyday.

Maths-wise, better to revise everything. This is just crazy...feels like SA1 :?:
