Hi Janet,janet_lee88:
Try to let go abit on spelling/tingxie. Allocate a set amount of time. If she gets it, she gets it. If not, it's ok. Really there are more important areas to help her with. I personally don't attach much value to spelling and tingxie exercises per se.
Hi beanstalk,
I take her spelling a little too seriously...and realize we do nothing but learn spelling/tingxie the whole week :stupid: now I will cut down learning them to just the day before. Thanks for your advice.
I'm also in the same situation as you, spend too much times on both EL and CL spellings :stupid:. Now SA is coming :!:, I don't know how to revise with my dd within such a short times.
I got all anxious over the 'summative assessment' schedule issued...had to email Principal to ask why there is this thing when P1 is supposed to be transition. She replied me yesterday saying there will be a circular to be issued soon to explain more. Was just telling hubby yesterday with spelling/tingxie, we are not able to do anything the whole week !
With this 'summative assessment' thing coming, I am at a loss and don't know how to find time to revise with her. -

For the oral, I thought dates are 11-13th May.Hi parents of P1,
Any ideas for the coming SA1 is there Maths paper because no mention of the format and indication of the date. Only performance task on 19 May. And for the Chinese Show And Tell which is the actual date 3-6 May or 11-13 May? :?: Thanks a lot.
Just wondering why can't the P1s be told when their turn will be...at least don't have to bring the fruit to & fro everyday.
Maths-wise, better to revise everything. This is just crazy...feels like SA1 :?: -
Yes, Chinese show & tell date has been changed to May 11-13.
Does anyone know what topics the English assessment paper will cover? The letter from the school says that its based on lessons from some of the girls’ school work but I do not have copies of the school work as they have been returned to the teacher. The only one that has not been returned to the teacher is "Whose Hooves?" -

English test also postponed to 16 May.
English file was returned yesterday...and thanks for your reminder, I realized 'Whose Hooves' is missing.
You may want to refer to Department --> English --> Curriculum --> P1 Grammar in IJ school website. http://www.chijpritoapayoh.moe.edu.sg/NWeb/department/english/P1_Grammar_Map.pdf -
It would be great if there is no school this Friday.
Since the secondary side is being used as polling station, no harm giving the P1/2s a holiday.

Hi parents of P1,
Is there a Chinese Oral next week? Any examples or letter given by the Chinese teacher? :?: Thanks. -
I thought for CL oral, the girls will be tested on ‘Show & Tell’ and the theme is ‘my favourite fruit’.
-
Yes, theme is "favourite food" and the girls are supposed to say five sentences. I believe they did some preparation for this last week.
-
Sorry, meant "favourite fruit"

Hi Parents,
My P1 daughter was not told of the date for her CL Show & Tell (out of those 3 dates)…she just told me there will be no 听写 on Wed.
I copied out the 5 sentences (from worksheet) and got her to remember them. Hope she remembers.
Do you give much emphasis on the ‘formative assessments’ next week like as in thorough revision or have a ‘whatever-will-be thinking’ ? I drew up a simple schedule to go through the topics taught but got rather stressed doing so…just P1 and already have to go through this.
