My 1st post in the forum after doing some of reading. I called SJIJ today to ask about the school open house and was informed there is none this year. Is this the norm for SJIJ?

I was keen to bring my son for such an event to allow him (as well as myself) to \"get-to-know\" the school to aid my decision.

Just wanted to get some confirmation since some admin staff are sometimes very un-informed.

for those intending to register at sjij, i hear that they will be temporarily moving to the old victoria school sometime in 2011 for two years… can anyone verify this and also does anyone know where it the old victoria school?

SJIJ Final results at the end of phase 2B:


Vacancies: 58
Applications: 72

less than 1km: 17 applications
1-2km: 13 applications
more than 2km: 42 applications

ACS (Primary) update:


There will be NO balloting for phase 2B (according to ACS website http://www.anglochineseprimary.net/) as the number of applicants staying within 1km is exactly the same as the number of vacancies (26).

It appeared that more and more people are living within 1 km to ACS nowsaday as compared to previous years. It used to have balloting within 1-2km in phase 2B but not anymore now.

I wonder why?

I wonder how many of these are genuinely living within 1km vacinity.

Similar to SCGS, I would expect there will be a drop in application for people are living within 1 km especially when the birthrate is one of the lowest for that year cohort..

I trust the MOE and schools will do the necessary check in order to be fair to those who are genuinely staying near to schools.

Huh??? Got call from sjij this afternoon, they told me outside 2km no chance...asked me to withdraw. Does that mean they'll inform me on the balloting again (since I did not withdraw)?

I called them 1630hrs (exactly)…this is what they told me wor?! Maybe they will start calling us soon for the ballot again… keep me posted if they calls again okie?? tks!

I called at just before 4pm and the status at that time looked like this:

Within 1km: 23
1-2km: 38
> 2km: 14

This means in the last half an hour or so, about 14 withdrew their applications.
