I went for the workshop held for TAS parents too. It is like what hquek says - it is a scary world out there. English, especially the demands at PSLE level, is quite tough.

I must jia you more with my kids. As to your query about TAS workshops, I went for 2- creative writing and this recent one that covers Paper 1 and 2. I found both very good. I learnt a lot about the techniques used to tackle the different parts of English. And I also started my own star system at home like TAS told us and now my kids work for the stars to exchange for privileges like computer time etc. I find it effective. I have gone for other workshops before and I find that those done by TAS have much more substance. They cover a lot in the time and the delivery is very clear so you can understand although so much is covered.

        Hi parents,

Anyone knows the timing for the Grammar Rocks program, the TAS community service one? I lost the letter that TAS gave out. My kids have been bugging me to send them for the program and I only remember that they have one on friday but forgot the timing.

          Hi wywy2,

I brought my kids for the Saturday programme at Singapore Post and it was very good. They brought back files with grammar notes and worksheets in them. And when they were doing some grammar practices I gave them, they could identify some of the rules they learnt. They would also get prizes if they do well and so they have been revising their work. Hence, I find the prog very beneficial.

Anyway, from the letter that they gave- there are 3 timings:

          - friday: 4.30 pm - 7 pm (ang mo kio)
          - saturday: 2-4 pm (singapore post centre)
          - saturday: 5- 7 pm (singapore post centre)

They also stated that if there are at least 12 sign ups, they will start a sunday class from 3-5 pm.

You can call TAS to register or call this number 81184902.

Thanks MLJ! By the way, the 3-5 pm timing is at which branch? And I heard that the prog is available for non TAS students right, cos my nephew wants to come as well.

Yes, grammar rocks is for non-TAS students.

But just be mindful that this is a community service from a church so there likely will be bible sharing etc - in case one may not be comfy.

Thanks. I am fine with it but thanks for the information as well. šŸ˜„
