Newborn found buried alive at Eunos... ??!!!

according to ST today, if convicted, she face a jail term of up to 6 months and a fine not more than $6000 in lieu of caning
she entered Singapore illegally last year and was arrested for some other cases (not mentioned what) and had ran away from her employer after working for 4 months
IMO, the punishment is too lenient, the baby almost died in her hands  -

i agree... :x this level of punishment may entice more people to do the same thing since they might feel: \" aiya...6 mths jail only, then fine also less than $6K...\" :rant:according to ST today, if convicted, she face a jail term of up to 6 months and a fine not more than $6000 in lieu of caning

latest update: her bangladeshi BF is suspected to be the father of the baby and she is formally charged for baby abandonment
-
I am sure more details will be released when the trial starts next month.
She is now formally charged with illegal entry and baby abandonment, let’s see how the verdict will be -

'Totally agree

Today's wan bao reported the verdict: 10 weeks jail + $2000 fine
for overstaying 273 days and abandonment of baby.
She was not able to pay the $2000 so an additional 1 week jail was imposed in lieu of.
The jail terms was backdated to 26/4 so she will be released around end of this month :yikes:
She was not sure who the baby's father was and was diagnosed with depression.
I think the sentence was too lenient to be a deterrent and how come no mention of the burying of the baby???   -
jailtime is wld be a pleasure in this case…cos get free lodging and food.
agree to lenient ! maybe if the baby is dead…then harsher punishment is imposed but by then its too late. -

then free ticket home via repatriation  -
If it’s a singaporean, I think the sentence would be more serious. This is ridiculous!!
