Yah.... the 1km was a plus point when we bought this place as my parents used to stay just opposite TNS (those flat behind the CC) and they just love the area so we needed to get them a new place that is in that vicinity. Just read on this website that the price for the HDB flat has gone up but not sure if that applies to original state.


Our own place is within 1km of HIPS and 1-2km of Rosyth (unintentional at that point) but I gather it's always good to own property within 1km of popular schools.

and property within 1km to popular schools command a premium over those > 1km.

We've a property within 1km of TNS and to me, that's a selling point.

They will shift back to Marine Parade because the shift is only for upgrading/renovation works to accommodate the single sessions. TNS said that they need to build more classrooms.

The TNS teacher told the class that it's going to be a 8 storey building with lifts! sigh... but i'd rather they stay put and not move cos it is soooo...ooo near my place now!!!

grassroot option is worth considering as it is not tied to any particular school...

Those considering grassroots MUST check and confirm that the one they are serving in is the same constituency as the school they are eyeing.

If SHHK issues the recommendation letter for Phase 2B of P1 registration, will they send to all 5 Primary Schools under their care, or just to one, and do we have a choice on which one?

You will need to decide the school upfront and indicate your choice (only 1 choice) in the SHHK P1 registration application form. You will need to call up SHHK to check your success AFTER end of phase 2A2 or if successful, the selected school will call to notify you to go for the Phase 2B registration. The SHHK recommendation letter is only available and given to you on the day that you are doing your registration in that school.

To join SHHK, you need to have 1 parent to be a Hokkien, 2 existing SHHK members' signatures/endorsement on the application form and to pay an upfront registration fee as well as an annual subscription fee of S$24.

I believe cut-off years vary for different SHHK schools. So far I know of someone whom was not recommended for Tao Nan though SHHK member for 2 years.

:? Wonder what is SHHK's basis for recommendation. I also know of someone who has been a SHHK member for 2 years, and he was recommended for Tao Nan.

Oh thinking of joing SHHK so that can be in Phase 2B for my next child or if not perform PV again.

So SHHK to give letter for Phase 2B is subjective?
