I agree strongly that educaton system need to be revamp URGENTLY, in particular, the following are my thoughts:-

(a) with school moving towards single session, school hours should be reviewed. If school still ends in the early afternoon, tendency is that parents would still sign the kids up for tuition classes to occupy their time in the afternoon. Of course, the quality of the teachers should be raised such that tuitions are not required…

(b) the amount of textbooks required. Do you really need a textbook for everything, like music, health education, art & craft, etc? The contents of the textbooks should be studied. A lot of times, students are tested on knowledge outside of the textbooks and textbooks/workbooks are not fully utilised. A total waste of money.

Chinese, are we trying to teach too much, too soon? Compare to what I learnt in my time, chinese is much easier, eg hanyu pinying is learnt in P3 vs P1 now, in P1, we learnt simple chinese words. This coupled with the fact that most children come from english speaking family, no wonder it is not unusual to hear children saying "I hate Chinese".

I fully support the petition and I must add this should be a top priority.

I think Singapore Education really needs to be review .....
I am very unhappy when I was told by my kids that in school.... :skeptical:
Teachers only emphasised main subjects....
Subjects such as moral education, art and music are always put to last....
Sometimes the textbooks on moral education, art and music ...throughout the year the teacher never bother to teach.... :stupid:

So nowdays ...kids attitude are so unlike us when we ere in school.... :gloomy:

Singapore Education is now like a factory.... :frustrated:
The teacher teach ....those in class can absorb will advance...
Those cannot will be drop....
Very sad....

I would like changes to our education system: for our children to have a more balanced childhood, for teachers to have more time to care for the children learning, for an education system that gives everyone a fair chance such that those less privileged in financial resources and parental support has an equal opportunity to succeed.
