Hi, fellow parents - I live in Bt Batok and would like to strongly recommend GentleLove Schoolhouse at St. 52, Blk 501. See http://gentlelovesh.com/.

It opened I think about 2 years ago. I'm very happy to say its appearance here, and so near my block, was a tremendous blessing. It has almost everything you could ask for in a good childcare centre, and more.

The principal, Ruth, is a very responsible and responsive lady with a solid foundation in childcare. Her staff are uniformly good as well. Very friendly and positive. I have not encountered a single teacher at this school I have any negativity about, in the time my daughter has been here. They show genuine concern for my daughter, and won't hesitate to call us whenever necessary.

Environment - NO AIRCON! The school is at the ground floor of Blk 501, just opposite a playground/multi-purpose court. Buses, 945, 176, 985, etc. About 10 minutes stroll from Bt Batok MRT.

The one bad thing about this area is that Blk 504 next door is home to the dirtiest people in this estate, so it's a block quite beloved by cockroaches and rats. Not that this badly affects the school, but I thought you should be aware. Also, the estate is home to a lot of older gen, so they do burn a lot of incense during the 1st and 15th of each lunar month - a note to kids with any respiratory issues.

The school has surprised me and my wife with a couple of DVD-Rs with videos and photos of the ongoings at school. It's a really amazing bonus since we never get to see.

Last but not least - my daughter is happy. Something I can't say for the last centre she attended. My only regret is that Gentlelove didn't open sooner here. Anyway, I'm sending my girl back for BASC.

One thing though - places are limited. Seems always full. No harm calling to enquire though, if you are in the area.

Hi everyone, noob daddy here who just sign on to this forum yesterday. My kid is attending Tulip Monte now but I would like to seek a second opinion of this place. So far, my toddler seems to start off liking the place but he gets apprehensive of going there lately. I sat in one of the class and some of the teacher do not seem all too caring of the kids.


Also not sure if this is the norm in other playgroups but I do not see them taking temperature or checking that the kid is ok.

I did read through this thread and seems there are equal supportive and dissentive views.

If it is kindergarten you are looking for, mine is enjoying her time with GraceHouse (Grace AOG) close to St Anthony/Home team. Her eczema is controlled with clean environment and private playground. The class size is reasonably smaller than most kindys. I do not know all teachers there, but those she had/has are patient and encouraging.

Hi, i’m currently staying in Bt Batok and urgently sourcing for good pre-school or childcare services. Need to weigh the pros and cons between the 2 choices. Anyone with more recent personal experiences, please share? Very much appreciated.


1. Preschool (daily, 3hrly)
2. Childcare (Full day)
3. More recent Rates as every year they keep increasing.

Any comment on Appleland Montessori & Carpe Diem @ BB central?
