      My son classmate (2010) from GEP getting Platinum (top 10) also not been selected after second round.

      That's very unusual. He must have messed up in the Science portion or some other part of the camp.

        My DD GEP classmates from RGPS too !! , some of them were not selected or even placed on the waitlist after 2nd round of DSA camp. So for those finally selected are really based on their stringent selection criteria after getting through the rigorous testing.So it is fair to say that whether you are from the GEP or olympaid medalist it does not give you any added advantage. I remember having create a big hooha here with 1/2 forumers on this issue.

        Last year DSA plus 10% PSLE cohort was only 140 out of the max of 170 (that means that they don't even \"top up\" the difference). It means that they take in their max of 153 of COs and 17 from PSLE intake. This info is taken from Dr Hang's DSA and Open House presentation on 9 April 2011. Of course a no of those NUSH CO/WLs would also have CO/WL in other top IP schools and they have 2nd thought about putting NUSH as their top choice in DSA Option /preference list. That's why every year1 cohort is about 140-150 of the max 170. The differences would benefit the year 3 intake which can therefore take in more than the 70 max allowed.

        So for those die die also must go to NUSH, a WL is almost as good as a confirmed offer !!

        😄

          I just saw that some tuition centres are offering DSA Intensive workshops to prepare students for entry specifically into NUSH. Whoa!

            Personally, I feel the NUSH is so specialised that if u r not cut for it, then better look at other IP schools.

              May I ask, how is it possible to read widely? I have a child, she’s currently in secondary 1, and she is thinking about going for the test for year 3 next year (well, it’s always good to plan ahead). She really loves NUSH. But recently, she did not do very well in her math test… And is probably rather discouraged. I’m not sure how she feels, she does not want to talk about it. 😕 what can i do?

                    BGR = Boy Girl Relationship

                      Nono… Definitely not. 😕 I guess it could be a little study "slip".

                        Just to share with parents/students planning for y3 intake (about 70 per year including oversea scholars).The NUSH year 1/Year 2 curriculum is the so-called foundation year for Maths and Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and Integrated humanities. It is a crash and super fast-track programme literally. Accordingly, NUSH students at end of year 2 are technically in the position to take their so-called \"O\" level examination respectively. The y3/y4 curriculum is at the advance level or \"A\" level equivalent level. So parents of prospective y3 students, do take note of this aspect. Of course those students who are successful in y3 selection are given an extra \"classes\" to keep up with existing cohort.
