Is the Formative Assessments similar to what my dd had in mid year P1 i.e. Common Tests? It was not included in the year end results nor was it in the report book. We were just given a piece of paper with the marks and had to hand them back.
U might want to check with the teacher if they do any streaming based on the results. I remember that there was streaming for Chinese after the mid-year test in P1. Other than that, there wasn’t any change.
What I did then, was look at the school worksheets and test those questions she had wrong. If she had them wrong again, then I’d revise with her. When she still didn’t get it just before the test, I just reviewed with her and crossed my fingers. It takes some children (in P1, esp year end children) some time to grasp concepts so, no point stressing them up at this point.
Hope this helps. -
Hi Janet and Guppy,
I think it is no longer \"honeymoon\" period for P1 starting from this year onwards. I also feel very stress and frustrated over this assessment. My dd will still have both her spellings this and next week.
This assessment weights 25% and I think will be recorded in the report book. :slapshead: -

I've been coaching her nothing but 听写 and spelling since Week 2 until I got sick. Honestly, I thought P1s would be able to 'enjoy' a bit but doesn't seem to be so :nailbite:
Mummies with gals in P2, was it the same for you ?? Daughter has both 听写 and spelling next Monday 16/5. -

According to her FT, there was streaming for Chinese and there was a big revamp after that...based on the results for CL. I am trying to revise what has been taught for the 3 subjects, but time is tight since the schedule was only given on 26/4. I want to take it easy with my daughter bcos it's just Term 2...yet don't want her to do badly. Contradicting myself nowU might want to check with the teacher if they do any streaming based on the results. I remember that there was streaming for Chinese after the mid-year test in P1. Doubt she really understands what it is like sitting for a test.
P1s all move en-bloc to P2 same class. -

Sorry to hear about the \"no honeymoon\" for P1s. As the P1 all move to P2 same class, it should be less stressful for the first year (hopefully). Recently, my dd (now P3) told me that when she was in P1, she didn't know what an exam or test was. She thot it was a normal daily worksheet. On exam days in P1, she was still very cheery - no stress but I was so nervous inside and had to pretend to be relaxed. Now, she understands what an exam is and that makes her nervous and personally I think, she makes more mistakes.

All the best to the P1s next wk. -

My gal is a Nov child...just got the hang of primary school and the longer hours. Regarding the tests next week, I'm actually a bundle of nerves bcos it's not easy. She just had CL show & tell today...having EL oral tomorrow. I am very nervous how she will perform next week.

Have been revising for the past few days for 'this is, that is, these are & those are' but she still can't understand very well. Since it's just P1, I will do what she can...don't want to pressure her too much. -

My dd is a Dec child. So, I know where you're coming from. Your gal will catch up eventually.

She is still trying to grasp the concepts for Maths. Her FT is very patient and advised me to give her more time as some P1s take much longer to adjust...so I am going to do just that. Education is a long journey, so no point stressing her and make her hate school and sour our relationship. When she finishes P1 end of this year, she is not even 7. -
P1 SA1 is finally over :rahrah:. Time to play hard :imcool: .

I take those 3 class tests as SA1...but P insists that they are not.
Anyway, it's time to let go and enjoy these few days.
