All About Church/Clan/Society Membership

Like that going to check it out fron SHHK what is the minimum tenure of membership in order to have letter.
It defers from year to year, depending on that year's birth rate and take up rate. The general rule is if you have 2 years or more, you will most probably get the letter. -

Good grief titank! :faint: What are the logistics of having kids in 2 different schools. They are in different classes and levels lah, I think chances of fighting is low. Also, what assurance do you have that the other school will have a better standard?
Just preliminary planning cos worried the 2 child in same school would fight. Maybe as a standby. Also if RMPS performance no good then I can let the 2nd child try other schools.
I think the time, energy, money and headache saved is substantial in having the kids the same school, not to mention further PV or clan activity, and can be applied more productively to correcting any deficiencies in the school performance, or child behaviours (fighting).

Endorsement is optional. Just to give that extra ooomph to your application.Like that going to check it out fron SHHK what is the minimum tenure of membership in order to have letter.
Wow still require to get endorsement? Like that see anyone can endorse & I pay some $$ for his membership.
Otherwise, just rely on tenure. Make sure at least 2 years for TNS to get any chance. -

Is it just me or does anyone else feel uncomfortable about the arbitrariness of it all?

Hi 3Boys, I don't think it is totally arbitrary. Refer to my earliest post, I think the process take into consideration the total no of vacancies left for phase 2B in any school, and the total no of members applying for it. If the no is too much over the vacancies, the SHHK has no choice but to apply a more stringent selection process. In other schools where the no of applicants/vacancies ratio is not so high, they can be more lenient. -

I guess the parents of children entering P1, who are members of SHHK, there is a certian level of uncertainty isn't it? I.e. 2 years out from reg, you are an active member and are targeting a popular school. You have no view as to how many other SHHK members are planning the same thing, nor how many PVs there are in that school. Your letter of recommendation hangs in the balance and you have no visibility. For a PV, it the school rejects you early in the year, you know you are out and can plan your options accordingly.

Its a tough job for SHHK, and some established and clear guidelines will make it easier for themselves and everyone else involved. -

Hi 3Boys, yes you are right. Uncertainty especially if the school being applied is a highly popular one like TNS and AiTong, which are always having overwhelming applications. At least for PV, the school set the number right from the beginning. I guess these 2 avenues are for very different parents. Like those who can afford the PV hours or are not hokkien, go for PV, those who can't have the hours, and are hokkien, go for SHHK. -
In summary, joining SHHK does not gurantee to get any letter even have tenure membership like 2 years?
Wow like that better perform PV with the school better.

Am new here. Can anyone advise me how do i find a sponsor to endorse for the registration for SHHK?
Thx much -
Anxa:
The best is to ask around among people you already know as these are the people who will be more likely (and willing) to sponsor you. Do you know any Hokkiens who are SHHK members? Or anybody whose spouses are members?Am new here. Can anyone advise me how do i find a sponsor to endorse for the registration for SHHK?
