I thot such problems go to HDB? :heresmyfish: Unless you're not staying in HDB...wormy:
Went to see MP many years back about roof leakage problem. Technically, was not see MP session. The volunteers will screen me. After hearing the problem, he decides that there is no need to see MP. The volunteer I met didn't leave any good impression, no smile throughout. As if I am at fault causing him to do OT. Then when they came to walkabout, one of them recognised me and said will fix my problem if I vote for them. Of course, I felt defiant. Made me feel like I have to literally beg them to fix the roof problem. Afterall, I have to pay $ to fix the problem.
:yikes: :yikes:

I've wrote to two MPs so far.I had went to meet-the-MP-session before which was just last yr. i, and many people, dont even get to see the MP, there are tables with volunteers and helpers which are there to see us, not the MP who see us.
The first I wrote to him thrice but he never replied, totally 石沉大海. Surprisingly, he did implement my suggestion 3 years later. I've moved away from that estate by then. Alright, better late than never.
The 2nd one I emailed him at his direct email address. Call up his grassroot to make sure email received. Eventually another person replied on his behalf. They proposed short term solution & that was implemented after 6 months, but permanent solution still nowhere in sight after > 1 year -

nope. In my case, I stay in HDB flat (tallest floor) and the roof leaked. I had to refer to Town Council for some months before they finally fixed the problem - and this was during rainy season :gloomy: .wormy:

Prior to May 7, I think the MPs had a walk around becos quietly and mysteriously, broken displays/stuff in the common areas were fixed - these had been broken for months/years and nothing was done. Suddenly before the E-day, it was all fixed. Only thing they didn't do was to put a new coat of paint...
oh...maybe that would only come IF we all voted a certain way. hee hee -

Okay, so i'll just take my time & slowly read from page 20+ to page 61 (as of now).Busymom:
... The way that this thread is moving is still very much like the other thread... I don't see any difference between this thread and that thread leh...
There is a difference between the 2. The first one we talk and it makes a difference. This one now we talk and it makes no difference :).
A PRC new citizen floated a suggestion to his compatriots to run for the election so as to influence the PAP regime’s immigration policies.
The article, originally posted in a local Chinese forum, has been circulated widely in cyberspace:
“说点题外的话,其实新加坡的中国移民也不少,相信华新上就有很多,不知道有没有人有参加竞选的打算,争取我们自己的声音。至少让政府在考虑移民政策的时候也顾及下吧
Translation:
“There are also quite a lot of PRC immigrants in Singapore. I’m not sure if there is anyone amongst us who is interested in running for election so as to represent our (PRC) voices in parliament. At the very least, this may have some influence over the govt’s decision over its immigration policy.”
Due to the PAP’s ultra-liberal and pro-foreigner policies, foreigners now make up 40 percent of Singapore’s population. Of the remaining 60 percent who are citizens, an increasing number are born overseas.
The number of PRC immigrants arriving in Singapore has increased in the last few years, some of whom like the famous Zhang Yuanyuan, was given Singapore PR in only two months. The state media is full of reports of PRC cleaners, construction workers, bus drivers, teachers, masseurs, beauticians and even prostitutes being given Singapore PR and citizenship by the PAP regime.
PAP de facto leader Lee Kuan Yew once proclaimed that it is a “good thing” that Singapore is welcoming Chinese immigrants (from mainland China) as they are “harder-driving” and “harder-striving” than Singaporeans.
With the increasing number of PRC new citizens in Singapore, it is highly likely that the PAP may field one in the coming general election to appeal to the new voters.
More than 100,000 grateful new citizens voted on 7 May last Saturday and their votes are likely to increase in the coming years as the PAP continues to mass-import foreigners to displace native Singaporeans.
In an interview with the state media two weeks ago, Lee sent an ominous warning to Singaporeans:
“Please remember: We still need 900,000 foreign workers on work permits.”
Singaporeans will have little choice but to accept more new citizens who don’t serve a single day of NS as their MPs in the future like PAP MP-elect Dr Janil Puthucheary from Malaysia.
http://www.temasekreview.com/2011/05/11/prc-new-citizen-suggests-running-for-election-to-influence-paps-immigration-policy/ -

Recall that CST was kicked out from the party he created by CSJ :yikes:
Both are strong man in my eyes and given time CSM may get to be stronger than LTK and will LTK allow CSM to move in front of him if later really CSM can be ‘shinier’ than him or he will fight to kick CSM out?
If LTK and CSM can work in unity rather than 内乱, their camp would theoretically grow stronger. If they screw up among themselves, voters will lose confidence & needless to say we all know which direction the votes will swing next round
Don't know why LTK reminds me of 曹操, must be the way he smiles  Anyway, I think he is too smart to suffer the same fate as CST. CST looked so 老实 -

I think they are still entitled to pension, there have been discussions in channelnewsasia forum on this topic as well :
Can you confirm if Ministers are still on pension scheme? I was having this dialogue with 2 guys who insisted that Ministers should be highly paid in millions because they have no pension scheme.
http://forum.channelnewsasia.com/viewtopic.php?t=432955&postdays=0&postorder=desc&start=0
Steve Chia also asked the PM the question in parliament in 2004. See quote from Today Online dated 2 May 2011
\"Mr Steve Chia (picture) said he had asked why some ministers have a pension scheme in addition to their ministerial salaries, and claimed he was told it was \"written in their contracts\".
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who was Deputy PM and Finance Minister in 2004, had told Mr Chia then that the pension scheme remained relevant to officers in key areas of the public sector, and the terms of service were similar for political appointees\"
Think only our PM can confirm this. -

Emm....Funz...those sentences in blue.Funz:
Normal isn't it. When they are wearing the party's hat, they have to support the party's policies and programmes. Whatever that they do not agree with should be trashed out behind closed doors. Likewise for corporate employees right. Cannot possibly go knocking on a customers door and bad mouth your employer and still expect the customer to buy from you.
Whatever they don't agree should be trashed out behind closed doors, but do they really do so in having a good debate out for the common good of Singaporeans and putting party's and personal interests aside or have they agreed coz of party whip despite morally they think that some policies are wrong; that they are agreeing against their conscience? My favourite \"Emperor's New Clothes\" analogy? Public perception seems to be such that they formed the policy and that's it, everyone needs to accept / swallow it (eg GRC system. You listen to GY talked about the ideal size of the GRC system which I believe he ever debated strongly within themselves but PAP still pushing 6-member teams).
If they have agreed on policies which deep in their hearts they know maybe detrimental to Singaporeans' interests, then I find it is 'crocodile tears' that they were shedding during and after elections and pretend that they only know about the strong resentment only during election period.
If talking about corporate salesperson. If the boss of this salesperson gives him something toxic to sell, is he supposed to sell?
This disillusion...very similar to those experienced by the teachers in schools, that they also get disillusioned when they face the 'real politics' happening in their working fields...(many quit coz they do not have the magnetic effect of million dollars salaries to make them stay to do 'cruelty' to young children).
I am just talking about work ethics here. Whether or not behind closed doors when they trash things out, they do so for the common good or not or for that matter whether there is any trashing out carried out, I cannot judge as I am not privy to it.
As for your analogy of boss asking a salesperson to sell toxic stuff, well the salesperson can quit. And if guided by his moral compass, then that should be the obvious choice. But so long as he is still employed by the company, he has to wear the corporate hat and at most toe the work ethics line.
I guess I see things in many shades of grey instead of pure black and white. Certain things are necessary evils, certain things are evil born of good intentions others are simply self serving evils in the guise of the greater good. Remember, hindsight is 20/20, at the time when people were benefitting from the rise of HDB prices and were able to use these as stepping stones into private properties where were the voices that say nay to pegging the HDB prices to mkt price?
As an employer, I want them to ease the policy on hiring foreign workers. This policy to allow more foreign workers into Singapore is poison to some but balm to others so where to strike the balance? -

LOL, my Dad said the same thing about LTK. He thinks LTK is ambitious and very crafty. And yah that is the mention about the way he smiles, Dad says very sinister. haha
