Mr Cheong asked, “Why can’t I use Medisave when it’s my own money?”
“We’re not blaming the government for anything. We just want to get our answers,” Mdm Choisaid.
i wonder what is the different between this heart surgery compare to our health minister's??
I know one needed to pay cash $8 only  -

very suspicious leh, hw come only when the ex-boss who is also an ex-MP steps in, then things start to improve? Initially, it was deemed as Mr Cheong was unable to file for further assistance...

wonder what did the boss told Dr Neo???
\" Lucky for Mr Cheong, his ex-boss (he used to work in Public Utilities Board for 44 years), who was also an ex-MP, learnt of his condition. He then made a personal call to Dr Neo after Chinese New Year in 2010 on behalf of Mr Cheong. That was when things started improving. \"
Common sense action must need extraordinary effort. Why can't the procedure be that if the person have no other means to pay to use more of the Medisave? Why can't hospital just offer installment payment when patient really cannot pay? -

I don't think all parents have a choice. Some do, some seriously do not have a choice. By answering the Math questions in the Math threads, I can feel the challenge that some parents are really facing and it's really not their fault that the train has gone so far ahead....children today are under a lot of stress.
i dont know how many times today that i've heard parents looking for tutors that their children only free on this day this day because the rest are taken up by remedial lessons piano lessons art lessons or other tuition.
there are also parents that dont really know what is their priority. Some parents even told me to help them bargain and get a lot cheaper price coz they have already got too many extra things lined up for the child like swimming dancing etc.
really saddens me when parents say they get tuition for their child for every subject. 1k+ a month just for tuition for the kid..
tuition nation? tuition culture? -

:goodpost:If the government now decides to pull back on access to foreign workers, then we must accept that there may be lower, slower growth. This is the trade-off.
We can't have our cake and eat it.... -
When I read about the how the constituents' farewell for Mr Chiam See Tong and for the Aljunied Team (in this case, the absence of it), it's quite loud and plain that who is the People's MP and who is not.
I was just reading this blog by Mr Wang and was surprised that George Yeo was actually the one who initiated the Integrated Resort:-

Please don't hate me for saying this. I dun like GY. He has the ear of LHL and it is his influence that gave us the IRs, even though people like Lim Boon Heng objected. But people like LKY didn't look nice, yet he did so much for Singapore. He is old and out of touch, I agree... but he did a lot for Singapore. -

Nope, don't hate you.
hypergatak, I also only realised after digging around and reading up. I guess his argument is the job generation factor..and so the debate goes on.
I think it is really good this thread is starting to show up more different perspectives on both sides of the 'stories'. Future elections will likely be more challenging and it is good to have a relatively clear idea of some history of the debate issues.. -

Can't agree more. Got this feeling that the new MP for Potong Pasir, is also not a very nice guy beneath his 嬉皮笑脸, really feel sad for Potong Pasir residents to have lost CST.

I believe the loss of PP hits CST harder than the loss in B-TP, 27 years of relationship is not trivial.

The purpose of the IRs are more than just gambling and job generation alone. It’s also to promote tourism in Spore. Unlike our neighbouring countries, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia (Bali, Lombok), Spore is not well known for its beaches and exotic appeal. Most of these tourists feel that there is not much to see in Spore, and tend to see Spore as a transit stopover - before going to the rest of the East. But with Thailand, Vietnam et al, tourists tend to spend a longer duration of time (as little as 4-5 days to 2 weeks or even a month) touring and enjoying these places.
With the IRs, the aim is to get tourists stay a longer period here to enjoy the sights and attractions, and subsequently spend their tourist dollar here. So, if you look at the IRs, it’s not just gambling alone. With RWS, there’s USS and with MBS, you have the Art and Science Museum and coming soon, the Gardens by the Bay which is close to MBS.
The idea is to make the IRs as holistic as possible, so that there is something for everyone. And that is good for Spore because we also depend on tourism (a tertiary industry) as a key growth factor.
So, in the past, tourists tend to stay in Spore for 1-2 days, but with so many activities and attractions going on, the aim is to entice them to stay here for 4-5 days before they fly to other Asian/Asean destinations. Spore needs to earn the toursim $$.
