      Sun_2010:
One night , during dinner discussions, i decided to enlarge DD's knowledge of the world. What with her showing keen interest in the recent elections.

Me: \"Do you know what is socialism?\"
DD nodded her head vigirously as her mouth was stuffed with food. (sigh!)

Elated that I had underestimated her knowledge,
      Me : \"You do? Goood.\"
      Pause. \"What is it?\"

      DD: \"You know , Facebook, twitter, ...\"
      :faint: :faint:

      Talk of Generation gap!

        this happened a while back.

One night, DS was flipping through his Lego catalog, making comments about how nice each of the models are, trying convince us to buy them for him.

DW (giving in) : how about you use your money in your piggy bank to buy 1 of these?

DS (thought for a moment) : cannot. I am saving up my money to buy you a watch.

        DW

that very next evening, DS was \"surprised\" with a box of Lego.
        like father like son?

            buds:

Teachable moments are precious to me, for it presents itself in the best situations to

teach the children as we go about our day. Most times it would be to increase vocab
by using varied words to explain the same thing. What better way to do so than
when it comes to a good moment? πŸ˜‰ Here's one of those days. πŸ˜„

We were watching one of the episodes of American Idol when i had to do something..
I asked her to hold the baby while i make a quick run into my room.

            So i told DD2..

Me : If there's anything, you just holler, ok sweetie?
Me : Cause i will be in my room. I may not be able to hear you.

            DD2 : What's holler?

Me : A yell... a loud call out... or a shout...

After i came out, i asked, \"So everything was okay while i was gone?\"

            DD2 : Yes, mom. I could manage. That's why i didn't yodel.

*Haley Reinhart sang last and she did a yodel somewhat towards the end of it.*

            two birds with one stone
Or should i say two words?

Yes, learning outside the \"study time\" is real lasting.
            And meaningful
Trust you to make best of it :salute:

Nah.. just one word. The girls learnt the word \"yodel\" from
here.. > http://www.metacafe.com/watch/178160/incredible_11_year_old_yodeller/ ... yeah.. that one was another one
            of those teachable moments. πŸ˜‰

            It is lasting. :celebrate:

She even made a joke out of it one day.. she said..
\"Mom, wouldn't it be funny if i had to yodel you to say that i need the loo?\"

I did an impression and the whole family laughed. :rotflmao:

How i knew she will know the word \"holler\" from now on?

While we were out shopping, she said...\"Mom, you and daddy go look
around the grown up shops while jie-jie and i go to kiddy palace cause we
can take care of ourselves. When you come back to kiddy palace to get us, u
can just holler and we'll meet you at the entrance here? Please, with sugar on top? :please:\"

I saw a few parents nodding at her and smiling in approval... :faint: so i cudn be a wet blanket
and say no you can't to a *seemingly well-behaved kid cud i?\"

            *Angelic little monkey, remember?

Not so much what kids say but what kids write. Some very inventive spelling from this year’s bunch of K2s. See if you can figure out what these words are supposed to be. Some quite easy some really classic
