I see… So does it mean that the NUSH pupils are kind of strong in everything, not only in math and science? So they’re actually all-rounders?

I am merely highlighting the curriculum differences and expectation required to join year3.
My youngest DD is in year 1 NUSH. At same time ,I have another DD in mainstream sec 3/express doing triple science with Literature/humanities this year. I can see the direct comparison between my two DDs in terms of their curriculum, the pace and amount of homework/project/coursework and more importantly the expectation/std required by NUSH programme.
For my DD in Sec 3, it seems like her Maths/triple science programme only kick start in Sec 3. For a mainstream to join NUSH in year3, she/he must really read ahead or acquired all the Maths/triple science \"tuition\" in sec 1 and 2 for them to be ready to join NUSH year 3.
Anyway, there will be a screening test for these 40/50 Singaporean /PR students knowing that about 30/20 places are also given to oversea scholars. -
@walterp
Okay… Thanks for your information. But I have a question. Is the amount of homework/assignments like, gigantic? Does your daughter stay up till the wee hours of the morning to complete them? -

You can imagine the difference between P6 (EL/CL/MA/SC) and NUSH1 (EL/CL/BIO/PHY/CHEM/MA/ DAvInCI/INT HUMANITIES/JAPanese). I would say the amt of homeworks/assignments to be done and the scope of their study are enormous but then most NUSH1 students are managing and coping well.@walterp

No, she does'nt stay past 11 pm. -
@walterp (sorry, I have no idea how to quote)
Hmmm. Of course there is a big difference between the primary standard of homework compared to the secondary standard. Especially in NUSH, I guess… Does your daughter spend most of her day completing her homework/assignments or does she still have some spare time after completing her homework to watch TV or read a book or something? (I apologise for the number of questions) -

The weekly lesson timetable is quite space out remember most IP school lesson schedule is 0800 - 1700 on certain days. So they do have plenty of slack time for other activities. My girl is ex-GEP so she has no problem with her personal scheduling. Most NUSH1 students have no problem coping generally except for 1 or 2 cases that seems to take a longer time to settle down. -

Hi need some clarification on the DSA test.
Does it consist of math and science papers only or is English included as well ?
And are the papers mainly olympiad/GAT type or usual exam type ? -
ngbrdad:
In the past, Round 1 test consists of Maths and science questions. It is quite different from the GAT type. Emphasis is on Mathematical analytical skills (questions are similar to the Olympiad type) and on scientific principles (lower sec level). Not sure if the school would change it this year.Hi need some clarification on the DSA test.

Hope it helps.
