Ah... Oshin reminds me of another Jap serial about a teenage girl that got leukemia at the start of the show... and the whole show was about how she was dying... and dying... and dying... and I don't even remember now whether she died anot because it was so bad (to me), yet it drew thousands of viewers who tuned in faithfully each night just to see if she would finally die. :slapshead: Most men tune in just for eye candy (that teenage actress was gorgeous).
Anyone remembers the name of this show? -

I didnt watch her shows though but I read from mag that she used to act in shows with terminal illness and ill fated relationship which earned so much tears and support from her fansAh... I have a confession to make. I loved Mallory towers and the Naughtiest Girl series and hated Hardy Boys. To redeem my boyhood, I also loved Alfred Hitchcock and hated Nancy Drew and Mills and Boons. Finally! Something I can identify with. The show oshin and books!
Sweet valley high, Nancy drew, famous five, agatha Christie, Sherlock Holmes, to name a few. And Shakespeare, midsummers nights dream, merchant of Venice, Julius caesar, etc. These days they dun do shakespeare for lit anymore right?
For a moment I thought I was either comatose my entire childhood or really deprived.
Maybe a bit of both. -

I'm not sure how watching that show in the hope of finally seeing her die can be construed as sentimental. It was just teenage adrenalin flowing, plain and simple. Eye candy.careful with that heart of yours Chief, at our age, too much throbbing is kinda stressful...but surprise to know that you are so 'sentimental'

I loved adventure stories so I started with Secret Seven, then Famous Five and when I was in sec school, the Nancy Drew and Hardy boys series. Never like Mills and boons because cannot stand 'mushiness\" stuff.
