Finally! Something I can identify with. The show oshin and books!

Sweet valley high, Nancy drew, famous five, agatha Christie, Sherlock Holmes, to name a few. And Shakespeare, midsummers nights dream, merchant of Venice, Julius caesar, etc. These days they dun do shakespeare for lit anymore right?
oh yes, sherlock holmes, i luv to read his detective stories, his forensic science skills.
and shakespeare too......i was using merchant of venice and julius caesar for my secondary lit.
and yes, my gal currently still using merchant of venice for her sec2 lit.

Ah... Oshin reminds me of another Jap serial about a teenage girl that got leukemia at the start of the show... and the whole show was about how she was dying... and dying... and dying... and I don't even remember now whether she died anot because it was so bad (to me), yet it drew thousands of viewers who tuned in faithfully each night just to see if she would finally die. :slapshead: Most men tune in just for eye candy (that teenage actress was gorgeous).

Anyone remembers the name of this show?

Yes, 山口百惠 is so sweet looking... and I think she married one of the lead actor that she acted with... Very good looking guy (cannot remember his name). Not sure if they are still married though. These actors and actresses keep changing partners. 😉

Tomokazu Miura. He's still acting and they're still married. Their 2 adult sons are now in show business. The eldest is a lead singer and guitarist of a rock band while the youngest is an actor.

She's 1 of the rare artiste who's totally devoted to her spouse. There were talks previously of her making a comeback when her husband was in debt, but they somehow managed to pull through without her having to do so. And it's her total retirement and disappearance from public life that makes her such an enigma and a legend.

I had Merchant of Venice for my sec lit too. Was sooooo difficult to understand... :frustrated: we all like \" - what, - so difficult, - omg! - wa piang, .... :slapshead:

The actress is Yuko Tanaka. She's still acting and won a best supporting actress award not too long ago.

Do you have her current photo? Just curious to see how she has aged. 😉
