you are very lucky and even if you cant use this membership to enrol your kid, i would suggest you keep this membership.

If you can get the letter, you might have a chance. Can anyone advise me on our chances for Tao Nan?
1. Just submitted my application for SHHK in May 2011
2. My son is due for P1 registration in 2012. (born in 2006)
3. Staying within 2km from Tao Nan -
hquek:
1. It is true that the council holds two meeting per year but Membership will be back dated to your application form date (cos they will bank in your cheque - I recalled $500plus membership fee).

You should be making preparations for plan B.
1. Query on when your application may be approved - I'm not sure when their next meeting is held. Your membership will be dated based on WHEN they approve. Ask the SHHK recept also about your chances - the office is not that big and they may be able to tell you how last year's application went. TNS is traditionally a popular choice so their requirements may be more stringent. If you want to increase your hope, they have volunteer events...these will go toward increasing your hope of a recommendation letter.
3. Based on past 2 yr stats, plus the fact there are many new developments that popped up within the vicinity, I'm expecting that TNS will have to ballot within 1KM in Phase 2B going forward. Those 1-2Km already very very slim chance although there is always hope for a miracle.
Good luck for your child's registration next year.
2. Membership duration is too short. Volunteering helps but I believe unless you are in the one of the committee, otherwise you will not get the letter.
3. Ultimately if you are staying more than 1KM @P2B, chances is very very slim. -
Anyone can advise on any Buddhist Associations affiliated to Red Swastika’s Primary School?
Thank you! -
Thank you all for your advice. Guess my son's chance for Tao Nan is really slim. Nevertheless, our Plan B will be Ngee Ann Pri coz our PV volunteering for Red Swastika has been rejected.

hi retroray,
Don’t throw away that letter. Miracles do happen. My friend got in to Nanhua via 2B without need for balloting (within 1km)…previously, even those within 1Km had to ballot in 2B.
Good that you have plan B in place. -
Anyone has any idea for St Andrew’s if the parent must an active member in church as in volunteering or confirmed member ? Thanks alot!

it is good that you have plan B. I have done my volunteering in huay kuan and i know many mummies and daddies doing volunteer work of almost 80 to 100 hours just to get recommendation letters from huay kuan for tao nan and ai tong. It is now an unpublished rule that to get recommendation letters for these 2 schools, have to clock at least 80 hours of volunteer works and every year the balloting at phrase 2b is within 1km. All these parents who clock 80 hours or more move to within 1km. -
