Hi, my daughter is going to Primary School next year, and we are planning Tao Nan, as her brother has studied and graduated from that school. do we have to ballot to allow my daughter to enter? And finally, is there any news of Tao Nan changing to morning session for Primary 1 and 2s? Thanks

:Congrats: You will not need to ballot. 100% successful as you are eligible to register in Phase 2A2, which is For a child whose parent or sibling has studied in the school of choice; or whose parent is a staff member of the school of choice.

TNS has yet to announce when they will make the change to single session.

Actually technically speaking, only phase 1 applicants are assured of a 100% successful chance. All the other phases are subject to vacancies available vs number of applicants. So for phase 2A2, there is still a chance of balloting should the number of applicants exceed the number of vacancies. Hence u see there are some parents who joined the alumni just to get into an earlier phase 2A1 place.

But of coz it is quite unlikely to happen based on past year trends.

At the moment, applicants are assured of a place under 2A based on past records, but in actual fact, balloting does take place if number of applicants exceed vacancies. I was very worried when I registered my daughter last year as we stay more than 2km...could hear my heart pounding when I saw the admin officer tick the 'more than 2km' box in the registration form.

Hi!can anyone enlighten me on hw the P1 balloting works?e.g i'm in P2C n available vancanies are 50 does that mean the total of applicants who lives < 1km is less than 50 do not need to be balloted??

Assume there are 50 places in P2C.

Further assume the following number of applicants:

                  < 1 km - 40
                  1-2 km - 20
                  > 2 km - 10

Total number of applicants = 70

In this instance, all living within 1 km will get in, and hence, no balloting for those in the < 1 km category.

With 10 places left, the 20 applicants staying 1-2 km from the school will go through the balloting. Those in the > 2 km category will not even have the chance to participate in the balloting.

For those staying > 2 km, it is only prudent for them to register elsewhere before P2C closes so as not to waste one valuable chance.

One parent is sufficient, but the parent needs to bring ALL the original documents.
