Vk2010, what s the number of students per class? You mentioned there are 4 GEP classes with 100 students. I thought the class size is larger. Or do the GEP classes contain non GEP students too?
GEP classes are usually about 20+. No non-GEP students. -

Given that it is incredibly difficult to get a DSA offer for mainstream students, and that there aren’t that many places available, and based on the sheer number of mainstream students from NYPS obtaining CO, it seems like NYPS may have cornered the market for mainstream DSA. Some top schools don’t even have any DSA CO, or just a handful at most.

But a lot of the DSA spots go to sports/aesthetics etc, so leftover for mainstream academic is not that much. Say strip off GEP, ,maybe DSA vacancies left = 600. Assume larger proportion for Sports/Aesthetics etc = 400, only about 200 left for DSA mainstream academic.jtoh:

cannot be leh .....really that difficult ? there are quite a number of vacancies for mainstreamers when combined RI RGS NYGH HCI NUSH VS NJC etc total vacancies per cohort = 450x4 +180 (NUSH) + 200 NJC = 2180. assume 50% allocate to DSA = 1090....and the total number of GEPpers is less than 500 country wide.
Also I don't think schools allocate as high as 50% to DSA. Of course it varies from year to year, but I think a figure of 30-40% is more likely. -

Actually NUSH does take in students after PSLE based on T-score, just that it’s not part of the S1 Central Posting. In any case, the number getting in via mainstream academic is much smaller compared to mainstream sports. NYPS has a significantly higher figure than other schools. Wonder what their secret is.

Hey vk2010, after reading this, even more parents will want to send their kids to NYPS. Already over-balloted, next time even more so.
