Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools
-
outsider:
I would choose Red Swastika.I have not many days to decide now... My DS will be in P1 next year.
I lived in Sembawang. The school that I intend to send him is Endeavour. I am a ex-student of Red Swastika in Bedok.
Distant is not a problem. I will shift to Bedok if I have chosen Red Swastika. For the time being I can stay with my bro until I have found a flat.
What school would you suggest.
Please comment. Thank you -
Red Swastika.

How can I find out which school has what mother tongue?
thanks in advance -
I am new to kiasu parent, and after reading for a few days, i'm really feeling the stress of being a parent and having the heavy responsibility of choosing a good school for my boy.
We stay just a junction away from Radin Mas, but I have always worried abt the school being to stressful for our little children, despite it being a high-flying school topping charts over the years. I've also observed and heard from friends with kids in the school that the boys can be quite rowdy...
I've always like River Valley Primary for its focus on chinese education (we speak both languages at home, and the boy has chosen Mandarin to be his 1st language so he's really comfortable with it!), but obviously choosing RV wld mean that we'll have to volunteer, plus transportation wld be an issue when the kid has after-school activities.
So... the big debate at home with the hubby has started. The man thinks that it's silly not to consider Radin Mas when it is only a walk away from home... (i have to add that my boy is v vocal and mischievous, so I really want to do what i can to have him mix with the right crowd, cos if he doesn't, the likelihood of him getting into trouble is quite high!)
urgh. stressed. Why did mine and hubby's primary school have to close down!??

kids will be kids, they will be rowdy, full of mischief also prim and proper at times.
mix with right crowd cos if he doesnt the likelihood of him getting into trouble is quite high - well, very hard to control the crowd cos' you never know who he will get along with.
living a distance away from school is okay only if you have the time to pick and send otherwise living next to a school is a much better choice only if both schools are equally good.
stress wise, almost all kids are able to adjust and cope with it. remember stress doesnt necessarily come from school, sometimes it is the parents who are passing it to the kids.
i know pp who moan and moan about stress in schools, difficult exam papers etc in front of their kids and kids pick them up. so in fact, the kids are pretty okay coping in school but because of parents' anxiety, kids feel stress up in the end. ζ δΊεε°δΊοΌε°δΊε倧δΊ
being a pv really helps parents to understand the culture of the school better thought there is no guarantee of a place.
all the best. -

Radin Mas is not the correct school, if you want your boy to develop further in Chinese, because the Chinese standard in Radin Mas is not really that fantastic.
Hence, it depends on your priority. Does convenience outweigh the desire to develop him further in Chinese?
By the way, I presume you haven't reported at the Newbies thread yet, right? Would you be able to give a self-intro at the Newbies thread? It's a SOP in KSP.com.

Hi!
How to choose a school by top place in top school list by academic excellence or just other mommies tell about their children's school. How about balloting?.I think the school do well thats why more people apply to that school, but my friend said more parent don't know about top school and they just hear from other parents and apply. The school is in top school list but doesn't need a balloting.......What do u think about this school? My friend said surronding area less population and more good schools are there. But I think the teaching system no good.Who's idea is right? Please tell me.
