Anyone remembers BIG SPLASH, emm, I don't mean the entertainment centre that it is now, I mean the then swimming pools with slides.
I still remember my first trip there. Was in Sec 2 then. Went with a neighbour (my age) and her sister (Sec 4) and another neighbour, a boy who was only 11 (Pri 5) at that time.
We wanted to try out the slide (the longest) but weren't sure what the experience would be, so our little boy, wanted to act like hero and a genleman, offered to go down the slide first. But we made the BIG mistake of not agreeing on the hand signals to signal if the ride was good or frightening.
So our little boy went down the slide first and when he landed at the bottom, he waved at us :imanisland: and because we did not agree on the hand signal before hand, we did not know if his :imanisland: meant if the ride was okay or not okay, so we happily went down the slide, one by one, but the moment we were on the slide, we regretted our decision! :scared: The water was flowing way too fast and it was such a slippery and fast ride all the way down, very frightening! :scared:
When all of us reached the bottom of the slide, we were complaining and 'scolding' our little boy for waving his hands at us, but he said that he was actually waving to tell us that the ride was too fast and wanted to warn us not to come down, but we misread his signal to mean that it was okay to come down!
What a joke. :rotflmao: -

Understand can also use washing soda instead of breach to soak leaves. Some recommend boiling it. -

besides the satay man, there was this mobile breakfast woman who would walk pass our hse, carrying her trays of assorted nonya kuehs and other breakfast foodstuff for sale....so shiok....no need to go to market to buy breakfast. and nite time, we had other mobile hawker stalls selling chee cheong fun and the colorful rice kueh.....so convenient. :please:
I remember there was this lady who went round selling Nasi Lemak... Loved her nasi Lemak... I don't remember people selling colorful kueh but I certainly remember them selling curry puff, banana fritters and other Malay kueh... Miss those days.
Yes I remember the Satay Man! Those were the days... :love:Happy Mama:
i remembered when i was young, there was this Mr satay man, who sold his satay on his move.....far away, we could smell the smell of the grilled satay. :please: and also mr roti man, who came everyday on his bicycle.we, kids, would asked him to give us the bread crust and then we BBQ the crust at the back of our house............
and the adults would come out screaming at us for playing with Fire......kekeke
Nowadays nobody goes door to door to sell food, except the ice cream man and occasional durian man who goes round driving his Malaysian van. -
25hourmaid:
Me too!
Sounds familiar, been there, done that! :evil:pinky:
there were rubber trees opposite my house so everyday could hear the cracking/popping sound and we would run to see where the seeds had dropped. We then rubbed the seeds on the floor to get heated up and pressed on the body of those unsuspecting friends and they would jumped up screaming...

Of course I remember! Big Splash was fun!
Also, for those in the West, there was this Mitsukoshi Gardens which is similar to Big Splash. Their wave pool was awesome! The entire place was really huge! :imcool:
It closed down after some time and changed it's name to C N West (or C & West)... Cannot remember which was the actual name.... anyone remembers this place? -
