Not sure if you already know or whether it's true, I just got to know that Chan Chun Sing is a nephew of LKY. If that's true, it's really disappointing to think that the whole cabinet/PAP is but a web of relationships in which someone who is on the fast-track always trace back to you-know-who. Is that what you call \"cronyism\"?

      **********
There is talk Chan Chun Sing (ki chiu) is nephew of LKY, based on his standing position at funeral of LKY's wife.

Chan Chun Sing's mother is Monica Lee Kim Mon, who is also Lee Kuan Yew's sister. So that confirms the talk that Chan Chun Sing is indeed Lee Kuan Yew's nephew. Now this explains why Chan Chun Sing is often seen around Lee Kuan Yew.

Chan Chun Sing's parents (mother Lee Kim Mon and father Chan Chee Chiu) bought a Scott 28 Unit #18-02 condo on the same date as Lee's family on 06 November 1995. The caveats lodged can be viewed : http://www. http://i56.tinypic.com/2m4znyq.jpg\"> tangtalk.com/hplchart2.html

I would take such stories with a big pinch of salt. What proof does this anonymous letter have, except for a photo ( which doesn't actually prove anything except that CCS had a higher degree of involvement at the funeral than you or me), and the name of two people who have the surname 'Chan'. According to CCS' bio http://ge.pap.org.sg/candidate/chanchunsing, his parents were divorced. He lived with his mum and maternal grandparents in a circuit road HDB flat. I read somewhere his mum was a machine-operator. Doesn't sound like he is related to LKY as described above.

Of course, one could argue that CCS's official bio is made up...But that would require a degree of cynicism that I do not have. šŸ˜„

This is scary. I also just read an article published at 8 March 1988 on The Straits Times that Mr Chan Chun Sing's mother is a machine-operator.

It is sad to know that rumours might be spread in this forum.

Alternative parties do not oppose for the sake of opposing. No matter where we are and who we are, check and balance is important. Parents check and balance with our kids, so they won't get stray off. Auditors check and balance company's accounts so that we work within the rules with order. At home, we always try to practise one parent being the good guy and the other being the bad guy. Check and balance is a must in every aspect.

No matter who you support, you must always expect 2 things from them.

Accountability AND Transparency. If either is lacking, then, they do NOT deserve to be in office.

You mean publish the mother's name ? Sorry, it is not in the newspaper cut out that I read.

But I seriously don't think that as a 19 year-old and a president's scholar he would lie about his background in the paper.

He was thanking his mother in the paper.
