Methodist Girls' School (Primary)

Agree !
it’s very good that MGS has her own in-house GEP programme!
moving forward, will be great if other good primary schools in SG also follow MGS method … ie. have their own in-house GEP too!
-
since MGS is a very good popular mission school, i believe there must be many parents eager to transfer their girls in. Wonder what’s MGS transfer criteria is like ?

hello vks2010,
is yr daughter in MGS or SCGS ? -
greenbean2011:
how much different is this in-house GEP, compared to those GEP programme offered at other schools like HPPS, CHS, St Hilda pri, RGPS, Taonan, Rosyth, ACS, Nanyang pri ?
Quite different I would say. I have kids both in MGS SBC (inhouse GEP) and MOE GEP. The MGS SBC adopted some of MOE GEP curriculum (ISO/IRS, fratured fairytales, etc) but the scope and project work are very much reduced. The actual GEP syllabus is a little different (& tough) compared to mainstream's. As the SBC girls will still need to take all the CAs/SAs together with all the mainstream classes, their syllabus are still closely tied to mainstreams. They are pushed to do more but they lack the time to cover the depth and width of topics unlike the real GE classes. -
Any parents of MGS kids out here to share your experience how you manage to get into MGS?..heard its very difficult to get in although staying within 0.5km is this true?..the intake is smaller compare to other school is that the reason?..any chance for non-christian but stay within 0.5km to get in…?any got in by doing PV service? Appreciate a zillion for any sharing!

got in via phase 2c and living within 1km and dont recall any need for balloting (fewer condo within 1 km) but that was slightly more than 5 years ago.
friend's dd got in via 2c living with 1km too (think there was balloting for 1-2km only) but that was like 3-4 years ago.
now if registering under phase 2c, am sure there is a definite need for balloting for within 1km. so good luck. -
Hi LOLMum,
You’re very lucky to get your girl in thru phase 2C. Heard that it’s more difficult to get in now, even for phase 2B…
Btw, what’s the school fees like? Heard it’s quite high cos it’s a private school, not govt-aided. -

It's only the secondary section that's independent. Primary school fees are the same as that of other primary schools in Singapore.Hi LOLMum,

hi angelight,
thanks. it was God’s blessings.
now, yeah, with so many condo around mgs, chances is not as high as before.
as jtoh said, you pay a higher fees for secondary school but for primary, it is the same as the rest of the schools in singapore. -
good to know the fees is like other pri. schools. Just hope DD can get in when it's her time. Not too optimistic though, cos we can get in at phase 2B but not living within 1km.
