I'm very confused too.Hi!
How to choose a school by top place in top school list by academic excellence or just other mommies tell about their children's school. How about balloting?.I think the school do well thats why more people apply to that school, but my friend said more parent don't know about top school and they just hear from other parents and apply. The school is in top school list but doesn't need a balloting.......What do u think about this school? My friend said surronding area less population and more good schools are there. But I think the teaching system no good.Who's idea is right? Please tell me.
But allow me to reply what I can.
Some schools are top because in terms of academic results, while others are popular year after year. Meaning to say, there is balloting within 1km under Phase 2C. Even for those under Phase 2B, balloting takes place too. -

It's hard to comment when we don't know which schools you are referring to. Why not read up on the schools you are thinking of in the Primary Schools Parents thread. Maybe that'll give you a better idea of the school.Hi!

For all Grandmasters!
I have experienced one of my neighbourhood school is in the top school list and more than 1 point, but parents of that school’s children said don’t send ur children to this school. At the same time another school’s children’s parents recommend their school, but that school is bottom of the top school list.If one child get above 275 is enough to add the point. -

:scratchhead: dont understand \"more than 1 point\" and \"add the point\".
i think you should tell us which schools you are talking about and we could perhaps point you to the right threads to do a comparison. -

As explained several times before, KiasuParents.com's top academic school listing is only suitable for identifying the top 30 schools in Singapore. It is based on the consistency and recency of schools in producing top scholars in PSLE, which is the ONLY measure that is publicly released by MOE every year. For all Grandmasters!

At the same time, schools that perform well academically may do so at the expense of other aspects that different parents may value. Everyone places different weightages on features of schools that they are evaluating. Please use the listing just as a point of consideration, and NOT the deciding factor. -

I am staying in Simei and I have three candidate schools to aim at in coming P1 registration for my son. One is Tampines Gongshang (it’s a reputed school but far away from my house) one is Changkat (less well known but it’s opposite to my house), one more is Bedok Yu Neng (less well know than Gongshang and even further away but still quite popular at Bedok ).
Please advise to my choices and one more thing is my son is not very disciplined kind, quite slow learning, also not so interested in studying when comparing to his classmates. -

Perhaps you would first like to start off my elaborating why you shortlisted these three schools, since one of them is far from your house.
