Nanyang kindy has no affiliation to nanyang pri (not allowed by MOE).

Being in Nanyang Kindy, you will have opportunities to know the "nanyang school family" - ie, concerts, events, etc. You will get to meet the board members, etc. When you attend school concerts, you will meet other parents (from nanyang pri & girls).

As such, you MAY have a better chance to become parent volunteer at Nanyang Pri.

Nanyang Kindy arranges "trips" to Nanyang Pri where the students get to see how Nanyang Pri "operates" (my young child commented that the students are very quiet and serious in class) … visit the canteen, library, etc.

You will find many students at Nanyang Kindy with siblings in Nanyang Pri … so, many of them will attend Nanyang Pri subsequently.

My fren’s kids are in NYkindy - so far, the feedback is very positive. Curriculum seems more relaxed (no spelling, no homework at K1) - depends on what you are after.

I see that her kids are reading well, confident and very very happy in NY kindy. Their teachers are very very caring also (plus point).

I like that they offer a host of enrichment classes after school - and it’s directly after classes. In other schools (I understand St James is one of these, I could be wrong) enrichment is after the afternoon classes only - so if your kid is in the morning session, it may be inconvenient.

            probably my expectation is higher

            i had expected more "work"

they only started weekly spelling in K2 and "tingxie" in term 2 !

not sure, I heard there are parents registering (or at least trying) when babies in mummy’s womb still. That’s probably extreme case.

But if you go for afternoon session, chances may be better - this from experience with nafa.

Hi liliansim, understand your point. But I do go green with envy each time she describes the caring shown by teachers to her kids - wish my kids’ could be near that level. And my kid has to go home after school, get changed, eat lunch, and then grandpa has to send him BACK to school again for any enrichment.

My point about having enrichment immediately after his class in his kindy would have gone some way to lightening our weekend load. And I won’t have to worry about transport (btw, I’m a FTWM).

my child is there since pre-nursery

i must say the 1st 2 years were good - total Chinese immersion
                K1 & K2 - very average or below average
i didnt withdraw 'cause i felt that it would be too disruptive

if you are the \"diligent\" type, you can transfer at k1 to other kindys - eg, barker road and st james which i heard is fabulous

i personally had an opportunity to meet & chat with the sch principal at a social function
she really spoke like a principal - impressed with how she spoke and explained the curriculum to me

nanyang has problems with staff (i feel)
                Hi!

The Principal and VP have left without a word. The school is currently running without any P and VP. Nanyang teachers also come and go.

same here … full-time working mum.

admittedly, my child never attend their enrichment prog except for 1 term for violin (& at that time, my mum was visiting … so, could take him home).

we put him on waitlist when he was 8 mths old

I have given up the offer at Nanyang Kindy. The reason for me to consider in the first place was, most of her current classmates are all going to SCGS, ACS. So i tot since she is going Nanyany Primary, it will help to get to know more friends that will most likely come from Nanyang kindy.

Its ok....good luck to the next in line 🙂

                      Hi!

                      Good Decision.

Nanyang Primary is a better school with proper management compared to Nanyang Kindy.

Seems that the general feedback is not too positive...am considering the offer for K1 next year too...

However ,given other practical considerations such as timing (I'm a FTWM), I'll probably give this a pass... 😐
