My hubby is one who does not believe in the program. Not so much on its selection, but its nurturing programs on the giftedness of the kids. Hence, he thinks that being in the program or not is not a big deal. πŸ˜‰

So what I am saying is that currently if children are gifted but not exposed, prep, etc then even if they got into GEP, they will have a steep learning curve due to the lack of exposure in various topics.

On the other hand, if \"high achievers\" which are not gifted but are prep and trained get into GEP, they will also sturggle thru GEP as pace of learning gets faster and the complexity of the topics gets harder.

After reading thru the various GEP posts here, suddenly I am glad that ds is not GEP material, hehe. Heng ah, so I save on all these potential headaches down the road. See uncle Trap, it's all your fault .... :nailbite:

No wait, but ds is indeed extremely gifted in one area ........ but only in playing computer games. :slapshead:[/quote]GEP material or not, might be too early to tell in your case. Based on your sharing here, you are exposing your ds in many areas which is good.

Besides I have seen many cases of non-GEP that do better than the GEP in A Level. Though Singapore education is crazy in primary school, thereafter they do offer many alternative route to success. So no need :nailbite: just chill :imcool:

So do I sound contradictory - No. πŸ˜‰

        :faint:
        Trapwithin:
The important key is that parents must manage their expectations as well as the child's, since the chance of getting into GEP is very very low. I know I sound :siao: but no harm trying right?
        :faint: :faint:

But yes.. no harm to just try. πŸ˜„

                    Bro Markfch,

Hee heee .. look at your number of posting vs my number of posting
Look at your KSP joined date in relation to your ds's age and my joined date in relation to my dd's age.

                    You scare me.
