I am keen to look for a math enrichment for my DS, now P4. Any latest feedback on Mind Stretcher Katong?

I heard from parents that they do not feel safe having their pre-primary children waiting at the waiting area before or after lesson ends? Do you all feel insecure like me?

Acutally, its just next to this big canal that separates the Jurong East and Jurong West


They renovated the school and now it's call YO:HA??
So the place looks pretty new now......and there's a wushu (TEN) school there too (run by this ex-actor Weng Qing Hai). So you can hear him HOO-&-HAA there.

Can you advise if the maths and english at MS @ Yo:Ha center is good? My daughter is in P1 and right now not attending any tuition (only home tuition for mandarin).

I personally coach her on English and Maths. So far good. But as she progresses, I worry that I will not do justice to her :roll: .

Thought of enrolling her for maths and english at MS @ Yo: Ha. Pls advise if anybody's kid attends classes there and how is the teaching there..

Am afraid I won't be the right person to advise cos' my kids only started attending Mindstretcher - Science (P4 & P5) this year. I have heard a few good feedback on their English, but again, their kids are in upper level.....so perhaps other mommies can help to feedback

Just to share with all here,my son is currently with Enopi,no doubt I feel the speed in his calculation improved but when comes in understanding certain concept, he's still not there yet..so I think Enopi math is not so much on concept building..and its difficult too coz its not on par with MOE syllabus. My son is in P1 now..Thinking of switching him to Mindstretcher Maths,anyone can add more input on it? Thanks :)[/quote]

Hi Shimmers, My girl is also with ENOPI at square 2. I have the same sentiment as you. Though my girl was wif the school for coming to 10mths but I realised her understanding of concept still not there. I have withdrawn her from school and looking for a suitable maths class for her too. anyone can share more on this pls... Many thanks

Fyi, my ds is also in square2. Thinking of withdrawing him cos its been 10mths too and feel tht his maths is still weak.
The trainer suggested me to stay on and enrol him to another prvt tuition whc will be focusing more on concept building n on par with sch syllabus but the thing is i dont think i wanna put so much yet on

Same as my DS too..I have to keep pushing and reminding what n how to do..Sometimes learning became unpleasant coz we have to keep up with the system..very challenging!

I agree with you that speed comes with practise which is why im beginning to feel Enopi just not right for him.
The centre your girl went to, whats the ratio of teacher to students?
My son has been with Mindstretcher(English) for about 5 mths already..I find their approach is good and on track with what the education system need. Then again, its only once a week lesson, still need reinforcement by us parents.. :roll:

Mindstretcher English is similar to TLL in many ways... I have seen some of their worksheets and content pages.... but TLL materials are slightly more current and interesting and more difficult... That's my own opinion. I did contemplate to switch my girl to Mindstretcher but so many people are telling me the teacher my girl has is very good, and so tough to get in, give my girl some more time to see progress...so I am sticking to TLL now.

The ratio is 8 students to a teacher for my girl's math enrichment class...

We definitely have to reinforce all the enrichment materials... my girl has to spend 2 nights doing her homework from TLL... and one night for chinese spelling from天下 and to complete her Maths homework from her enrichment class... actually more work to do.

My gal is with tien sia,e&p and piano...already making noise due to hmwork frm almost every enrichment.duno which to pull her out once she goes to p1.

She never got formal help on english as she learn frm childcare n i coach her at home. Thinking of letting her try mindstretcher...

TLL entry has to b based on test or just based on school results?what is e expected score for school results to enter?

Dd was allowed into p1 level for TAS but schedule don't fit so din join.shez weaker in creative writing...
