\"JOHOR BARU (Malaysia) - There was chaos at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) checkpoint at the Sultan Iskandar Building (SIB) yesterday when the biometric fingerprint scanning system had problems coping with the huge number of tourists in light of the weekend and school holidays.
The security system was implemented just four days ago.
Tourists took at least 90 minutes to wait for Immigration clearance...\"
Not sure what's M'sia's custom process now... keep changing... fingerprint for everyone? Even those driving in?
Any1 can share?
:? -
I went in via woodlands checkpoint one of the weekdays and already the causeway was filled with waiting cars. There is a machine thingy that you are supposed to put fingers on to capture the print. But when we were there, we didn’t have to print (maybe not fully enforced). I heard on radio that everyone in the car would have to get out to finger print.
Am thinking twice and thrice about going in now since the clearance take so long. Theoretically, weekdays non-peak hours shouldn’t jam…but they have what it takes to create one.
Personally, I just find it strange that Malaysians can wave their passports and go through, but tourists have to jump through hoops. shouldn’t they at least check their citizen’s passports? Or do they mean only non-Malaysians commit crimes in Malaysia? -
\"Alias urged Singaporean motorists to apply for the Malaysia Automated Clearance System at any Immigration office for faster immigration clearance as the system would do away with the need to have their fingers scanned again after their first visit...\"
You know what is this \"Malaysia Automated Clearance System\"???
Apply where? ICA can? Or only M'sia Immgration Office?
Sibei extra one... :stupid: -
Never heard of this (haven’t read papers yet), but should be under Malaysia immigration. Am wondering if this will die out, so will sit and wait. Just cut down on those unnecessary trips, else tear hair and all.
