Today Dumpling festive and we are talking about buying dumplings. In olden days, relatives used to gather together to make dumplings for the festive. I miss those festive food making sessions - Chinese New Year, Yuan Xiao (eat tang yuan), Dumpling, etc.

yah, I enjoyed seeing my grandma, aunts, mother and sisters busy themselves with the preparations and making of dumplings, tan yuan etc. Sometimes the neighbours came together to share the stove for cooking the dumplings (basically square tins cooked with wood-fire) and would last the entire day. Missed those days very much.

hv any one here learn how to wrap the dumplings before :?
i used to kaypo & ask my granny to teach me.
she arrange the leaves in her hands, i tried to do the same
she scoop 1 spoon of rice, i did the same
then after every ingredients were put in...
i fumble with the art of tying

all the ingredients dropped out when they were cooking in the pot :lol:

My mum chased me out of the kitchen becos she said I wasted the ingredients and my dumplings all end up at bottom of the pot. I just cannot get those nice sharp triangular shape.
