      Hi

My daughter is currently in P1. I noticed that she hardly has any home work to do for the last half year. (which was the total opposite of what I was told about RMPS). She also got a report card, which was very vague with no grades. Only a tick on everything for well developed. I just want to check if it is a norm for the teachers to tick well developed for all kids or is she really "Well Developed"?. In preschools I know that they normally given the highest possible feedback for kids. Is it the same in P1? Is it also normal for her to not have any homework?

Yes generally in P1 to P2 they are in honeymood period & do not have much homework. Once they go up to P3 it would be a differnet ball game yeah!

Strange. My girl seemed to have a lot of homework. :scratchhead:

Titank, FYI, this year's P1 is totally different from last year, as far as what I have observed so far. This year's P1 has more homework than last year's. Doesn't look like honeymoon to me, leh.

You have to get used to this method of evaluation, especially now that the school has done away with exams for P1 level.

For last year's P1 cohort, the true test came at the year-end exam.

You can have a rough gauge of your girl's readiness in her tests so far, right? :scratchhead:

She is in 1G. Maybe it's because my girl was slow. :slapshead:

Your girl is in 1A, right? Let me check with my friend. His boy is in 1A.

Maybe it's because she is able to complete most of the work in class? πŸ˜„
Sometimes the teachers are able to allow ample time for them to do the work in class after teaching, hence they can have more free/ rest time at home.

I do appreciate teachers who are able to complete worksheets/ exercises in class so the evening is bonding/ family time. I used to encourage additional assessment books on top of school work but I think otherwise now.
Yes I allow my dd to cycle, go playground, listen to music, read magazines/ books, play toys and do whatever craft works she wants for this holidays :please: as long as she completes her hols homework. Another 6 mths before P3 so better make this a 'play & relax' school holidays. :hugs:

So I guess it is normal to not have homework.

I share the same thinking with you too. So i stop giving him extra homework and instead letting him rest after coming back from school. I will revise with him for those weak area.

Upgrading works at the canteen has commenced, and part of the canteen has been cordoned off for the works, making the place a bit squeezy for the children during recess time.
