newbie here.. my daughter is 4 this yr
i stay 400m from tao nan.
within 1km to chij and ngee ann too.

i have SHHK membership
should i PV? how does SHHK give the recommendation letter?
numbers of yrs i joined? amount of work i done?????

or go Nan Hua Pri? since i use to be a student there?

As a member of SHHK, you will fall in the same phase as those in PVs.

Circumstances every year is different. Hence, the number of letters issued by SHHK differ yearly. Generally, the longer you are a member, and the more active you are in the clan, the better. However, there are people who were SHHK members for only one year and yet managed to obtain the recommendation letter from the clan.

The standard advice given here is: secure a seat at Nan Hua in P2A first and monitor the situation in Tao Nan. If you think you have a good chance of getting your child into Tao Nan and would like to take the risk, withdraw your application from Nan Hua during P2B and register with Tao Nan.

i should be 3yrs+ then?

Nan Hua is too far for me
but its a sure thing
but tao nan is just 5min walk away

but its means at least i dont need to do PV?

Yes.

If you feel Nan Hua is too far for your child, assuming that your child doesn't get into Tao Nan in P2B, you may want to consider Ngee Ann in P2C.

May I ask for advice on Ngee Ann Primary School please. We’re 1-2km to the school. I’ll be submitting my application to be a PV soon. My son is in K1.

1. Do applicants need to be interviewed?
2. What areas does the school need help most?
3. When will applicants start their volunteering term?
4. As a PV and living 1-2km, do we stand a good chance to get into the school?

Your son is in K1 now. This means you will need to register him next year. So, PV work starts from 01 Jul 2011 and ends on 30 June 2011. I think you are late for your application already. Most schools would have selected their PVs for next year's registration by now. Please call up the school to check.

Balloting was only conducted in P2C based on previous years' statistics. Hence, assuming you successfully become a PV, your son's chance of getting into the school is very, very good.
