I have intention to change my current Filipino maid to Burmese after her 5 years contract with me. A lot of ppl tells me how fortunate I am as she’s able to handle my 3 young kids (aged from 4-7). Like any maid, she degraded as times goes. But now going thru all the comments and experience from other users, I seriously think if Burmese is a good choice. Not much positive feedback so far about them.

Good to try out, you will c a great difference after having a filipina and may be frustrated initially, but the good thing is that if shes fresh and mentally prepared to work, thats a plus factor. Just be real patient and she will work out in time and with kids around her english will improve much faster.

wa! I just check online for my ex-burmese maid. I was her 1st employer and was surprised she has changed 4 employers!!! She is still in Singapore now. The agency really terrible, knowing she cannot make it still pass her onto unsuspecting employers.

It's like that, very frustrating. That's why I hope the new MOM minister will change the foreign maid policy, like in HK whereby the maid who can't make it/sacked by employer or who asked to change employer will be sent back to their country and they have to reapply to work overseas. No such thing as passing from employer to employer.

Yes i totally agreed with you. MOM has to do something and change their policy ! It's very unfair to employers. We employers are suffering when the MOM allows them to have the flexibility of changing employers ! I almost wanted to take a ex-sg Myanmar maid but found out that she has changed 7 employers during her 2 yrs here. I immediately called the agent to cancel her permit before she arrived SG. They managed to cancel but forfeited my $188 agency fees. So angry ! In the first place, MOM should not even approved such maid to come back to SG to work again !

So heartless! Imagine my this ex-maid happily move from 1 Hse to another. Employers helping to pay her loan and paying agency fees. We are contributing to their profit. Is the gov’t having some special reason for not following HKong style? I already told agency to send her back, don’t waste other employer’s time and money. But they say another employer is willing to take her. I wished the new employer was able to contact me.

Yah, I have to agree on this. So much so that my soon-to-be helper won't greet us ever, and even if she knocked into us, or spoilt our things, she would never ever say sorry. Or thank you.
