So i really need to stress my daughter as she didn’t did well in SA1. I will be transfer her after her P3, so they will scan thru her result and see which school suit her if go thru MOE? but if i just take her result to the school we want, they will still scan thru althought there are vacancy in the school after the GEP student move out?

I did not go thru MOE (din know that I could). I went straight to the 2 schools I preferred and placed her in the waiting list. They told me its not first-come-first-serve, and when there is/are vacany/ies, they will scan thru the list and make selection. As to what criteria, you can ask the respective school you have in mind.
My child got into one of the schools this year, her waitlist # was 30+. I placed her name since end last year, with her P1 results attached(required by them). Mid this year, the school called me to ask for her SA1 results. After providing them, they called a few days later to confirm a place for her. The other waitlisted school did not even call for any result, nothing heard from them, at all.

actually for transferring school, do you consult your kids? or they are suppose to go with whatever you have decided?

I asked mine, before putting her name on the waitlists and upon being offered. It was her final decision for the transfer, of course, we discussed, visited the school and then discussed again. The child has to agree and be willing so as to enjoy school mah, so cannot force. -
me too, i show her the school ard that area. She want the school near to the hse n the school she pick is the same as wat allocate by MOE. This time round i also ask her, but all school not near to new house. So she need to take school bus.

my ds1's kindergarten best friend is with a school that i am interested in getting my ds2 into. coincidentally, they are in the same chinese enrichment class this year. so one day, i asked my boy how does his friend think about the school, his answer is,
\"everyone thinks that their school is the best what! I think my school is the best.\" -

This is great!! Its good to hear this from kid. Then, he will be happy in where he are going.
When my girl was balloted out from our school of choice (3rd choice actually), she actually told me, \"mommy, what you think is best may not be what God think is good. I think God has prepared a great school for me already, don't worry!\"
Now for the school transfer, she told me, \"mommy, i think I am ready for HCL, so that's why God gives me this chance to move on....\"

Maybe he thinks you have ulterior motive to transfer him out of his current sch?my ds1's kindergarten best friend is with a school that i am interested in getting my ds2 into. coincidentally, they are in the same chinese enrichment class this year. so one day, i asked my boy how does his friend think about the school, his answer is,

Yes he knows i have, but doesn't know the details
Maybe he thinks you have ulterior motive to transfer him out of his current sch?
The other day he was complaining why I enrolled ds2 in a different kindergarten than his and complained about me being unfair (cos he finds ds2's kindergarten compound more 'interesting'). Besides telling him that different schools caters to kids with different interests, I also told him that now that he rejected my proposal of a transfer, he cannot raved about me being unfair when his bro goes into a different pri sch next time.
That definitely shut him up.

Hi all
I just want to sound a little note of caution to parents who are thinking of transferring their kids to another school after P1/P2 .
Better do it fast, hor.
A while ago I heard that MOE is looking into transfer practices in secondary schools. My source tells me that schools are being discouraged from directly accepting transfers of students, even after stringent testing/interviewing. Apparently the thought is that there should be some kind of centralized process through MOE. Heard that the independent schools are not very pleased about this.
I'm just wondering, will good old MOE turn to look at primary schools next?
After all, parents complain incessantly about perceived faults in the primary school registration process, and I've definitely heard of parents complaining to MOE about transfer practices too : how come so-and-so can transfer to XYZ School while my ah-boy has been rejected even though his SA2 results are just as good??
So, for all those parents who are thinking of just registering somewhere and transfer out after P1/2, I'd say, better don't take it for granted that you will definitely have this option forever and ever and ever...
