My dd has lately shared that one of her teachers seems to dislike her class very much. Apparently this teacher picks on them on small issues. This is making her rather down. Any of your child has similar stories?

From your profile, I gathered your dd is in JH2?

I did not hear any neg remarks from my boy abt his teachers. He usu. maintains a cordial relationship with his teachers. He seldom complains abt the teachers though he admits there is a particular one he does not like. I believe it is becos this teacher pushes him beyond his comfortable zone. Kids lah. So I take his comments with a pinch of salt.

Hv u spoken to this teacher before? Maybe understand what small issues are involved. Teacher's pt of view might differ from our kid's.

Thanks for sharing. I talked to a friend of hers from another class who has the same comment, hmm actually worse comments on the same teacher. Can't wait to see this teacher..

Bingo! u r right! Her PM! Don't think I can do much to help my dd. Actually, when she recently shared abt the incidents in KL trip, I didn't believe wat she said & felt the problem could b hers. But after hearing from her friend, I believe it's a common feeling among the students under this teacher. Just curious to see the teacher who they said \"hate children\".

My boy's PM does not teach his class any subj this year. But my encounters with her have been very encouraging. Very sure the PM in question is not my boy's as she did not go on the KL trip.

This year the JH2 are choosing their subj combi for JH3, another few mths to go stucked with this year PM. Just close eyes n ears to her neg comments.

At NJC, can the kids choose any subj combi they want, ie triple science, double science etc? Or are there limited spaces for each combi such that the better ones get allocated their choice first?

There will be a parents' briefing in Jul. Hope to get more details from there too.

There was a letter sometime ago, only a few subjects (Physics, Biology, Adv. Lit, Adv Humanities) are up to students to select. There is still a group of core & non-core subjects.

The letter also states that allocation is based on merit, sch will assess the choice mades based on overall performance in GPA and the subj area concerned.

I asked my boy if he has heard any students' feedback abt a PM who is not well liked. It turned out there is one such PM who so happened to be one of his subj teachers. He was told some students think this PM is too strict/over-caring in the form class. He finds this subj T ok.

So maybe not really \"a T who hates children\" but likely some students are not comfortable with the style of this PM.
