      ksi:
Chief, I would like to recommend the following people for their contribution in the Math thread:

      1. tianzhu
      2. Dharma
      3. MathIzzzfun
Dear ksi, thank you for your recommendation. However, we need proper citations for each and every one, so that we are clear on exactly what we are honoring the members for. The fact that someone has recognised their contribution and taken the trouble to write up a proper citation is a huge reward by itself for the person. The KPs are just icing on the cake :).

      Citations should have:
      1. A Title that summarises what we are recognising the person for, and for what period.
      2. A short paragraph describing providing more details.

Ok Chief, let me attempt again:

Chief, I would like to recommend the following people for their contribution

        in the Math threads:
        1. tianzhu
        2. Dharma
        3. MathIzzzfun

        for the English questions:
        4. ridcully

for sharing teaching Chinese at home:
        5. tamarind

for sharing unusual insights on parenting experiences:
        6. 2ppaamm

for sharing baking and cooking tips

        7. 25hourmaid

Tianzhu - for his interesting ways of presenting all the solution to help children like Math better. He takes great pain in matching the problem to the pictures he present plus sharing his wealth of knowledge in Math which he acquired while coaching his own son for PSLE 1-2 years ago? Now he is merely helping other children.

Dharma - Similarly, I enjoy Dharma's sharing of his short and crisp solution and again he is contributing even though his dd already graduated from PSLE 2 years ago.

        MathIzzzfun
        - Has been prompt in solving most of the math problems and I saw that almost his 14 pages of posts are only problems solving. The only thing I am not sure is if he is a tutor advertising on ksp or simply a parent. That will matter for this award?

Ridcully - Also has been prompt in helping out in all the English questions at every primary level. The answers have been useful to the community. Again, the only thing I am not sure is if he is a tutor advertising on ksp or simply a parent. That will matter for this award?

Tamarind - Though I see her relentlessly encouraging people to teach their children phonics, I am even more encouraged by her efforts to get parents to teach Chinese at home. Every language learning begins from home so I see her efforts significant in sharing her experiences on how her children can be bilingual because of the home learning environment in practical terms.

2ppaamm - She has always been sharing interesting experiences of hers in bringing up her 5 different children. Also I appreciate her honest insights on what a parent should look out for as well as some hard truths and decisions that have to be made. A lot of food for thought on parenting.

25hourmaid - While many shared recipes and know-how of a dish or cake or bread, I believe maid goes beyond by compiling the baking needs shops information for the baking community.

So are these citation enough? As for the period they are active, the first 4 are still active and for tamarind, I believe she keeps her thread alive by answering any queries. 2ppaamm also has been active until now, probably busy getting her children ready for new experiences in education. 25hourmaid is still active in baking and cooking for sure. πŸ˜‰

I second the nomination for :-

Tamarind - I have learnt a lot from her postings in areas of English phonics, Chinese reading, maid issues.

2ppaamm - similarly her postings are usually insightful and I have benefited a lot from that.

          Thanks ksi for nominating.

Thank you for your citations, ksi. We are happy to accept these recommendations for consideration. We have always been encouraging tutors to help out in the Forums because this not only provide expert advice for both students and parents, but also allow parents to evaluate these service providers. Tutors like mathsguru, MathIzzzfun and Ridcully are clearly passionate about their work and go beyond their call of duty to help out the community at their own time, without expecting any direct rewards. It is clear from their sharing that they are great at what they do, so I would not hesitate to hire them if I need their services. Receiving a Community Support Award will not only tell them we appreciate their help, but also increase their profile amongst the community.

Now we need 2 people to support each of these recommendations so that we can award them. Please support them if you have benefit from their sharing!

Tamarind - I have learnt a lot about teaching young kid Chinese from her posting as well as her sharing of the type of books to get from Dangdang.

Tianzhu & Dharma - They have opened my eyes to Maths questions and solution, and thanks to their sharing, I am able to grasp Maths much better and build DS foundation for Maths.
