So the question does exist: how GEPers get recruited into CHS, SJI, SCGS, MGS when they can't get an offer in RI/HCI/NY/RGS and the DSA thingy is all over if they had not applied DSA to these schools? Via PSLE T-score ? and what if they don't meet the COP? Do MOE post them to these schools?

I know of a GEP student who wasn't successful in DSA and didn't do that well in her PSLE and ended up in a neighbourhood school. But she's very happy there now because she's shining there, topping her cohort instead of languishing in the background if she had gone to a top IP school.

So if your results aren't good enough you don't get posted to SCGS/MGS/SJI/CHS etc but it's not the end of the world.

My son went for the RI GAT today, 20 mins to complete 60 questions. He could not finish the test. His friends also could not finish too.

wow 20 mins for 60qns ..that is challenging huh  .....

DS left 2 questions unanswered. Don't even have time to shade 'ti-gum' answers. Ds said with time can do all questions.. Not difficult but no time.

Heard interviews are conducted in groups of 3. 15 mins for 3 pupils so on ave each get 5 mins. No need to compete to answer. They will ask each kid different questions.

Ds went for ri gat today. Over 200 boys were there, geppers as well as boys in the sports and academic domain. Essentially gat date is determined by application dates.

How did he find the test? My friend's went and said couldn't finish the test. But then many of those who went also couldn't finish?

Ds finds the test manageable, not difficult. Out of 59 questions (1 question is sample) he is unsure of 5. He guessed the 5 unsure questions but only managed to shade 3 before they said times up. So in the end 2 questions unanswered. His classmate also didn't finish 2 questions. Overall ds enjoyed it, however he wished the questions were more difficult and more time given then it will be more fun for him. My ds loves maths Olympiad and is used to tough questions. Anyway heard that less than sa1 less than 80% should be in waitlist so Gat won't help. Now left with nus h selection test this sat.

It was very challenging indeed. Didn't help that there was 1 large screen with the countdown timer. Anyway, we told him to just try his best and not to worry since it seems that no one manage to finish the test.

Yes my ds also doesn't like the timer but is used to it. They often do that in maths Olympiad. Ds school maths teacher ever did that, flashed timer on screen and throw in loud sherlock Holmes music. All these is to test if they can function under pressure.

Don't think there is that many with SA1 average of above 80.

Not automatically but historical records shows high probability.

But can't be so many GEP students with SA1 ave above 80 per year right ?
Apparently DS's school only one this year.
So from 9 centre at most maybe 50 ?
