My girl is in St Margaret Pr Sch, currently P1. We are also staying in the West . Sch bus pick up time is 6.30am as she is the second last person to be picked up. St Margaret is a well balanced school..so far my girl is happy there and has many friends.

        Any further updates ? Last I checked at 2pm - 83 have applied for < 1km.

Not sure about 1 km - 2km though. Hope there is no need to ballot for < 1km...

        latest ... 85 within 1 km, balloting for 1 - 2km for sure. 😢

Actually as at 9am this morning it is
        84 within 1km
        22 1km - 2 km

Saw at least 3 couples registering this morning. Hope no more than 6 will apply for within 1km today. Else will have balloting within 1km and those 1km - 2km will have zero chance.

First, assess whether you have any alternative schools which you can register your child and have 100% chance of getting in without balloting?

Second, ask yourself whether you are prepared to take the risk that in case in balloting you didn't get it and you end up in Phase 2C Supplementary where you have no more choice as only the lousy schools are left and you may still need to ballot for some of the schools (most likely the better lousy schools among them)?
Situation look bad for SCGS as by end of today, P1 applicants for within 1km = 59 and fighting for 55 vacancies (Likely tomorrow will have some more applicants).

Since you are within 1km of SCGS, are you also within 1-2km of Raffles Girls Primary (RGPS) or St Margaret (SMPS)? If yes, then you may want to try RGPS or SMPS as historically and even until end of today, it seems that if you are within 1-2km, you have 100% chance of getting in without balloting.

If you intend to change school for P1 registration, you can do the following:
            (1) Station your spouse at SCGS to get ready to withdraw.
            (2) Station yourself at the school you intend to register.
            (3) By 3.00pm if the chance is still good for the school you intend to register, call your spouse via mobile to withdraw from SCGS.
            (4) Simultaneously, you can fill in the registration form at your other intended school and submit.
            (5) Done and let your mind rest as no more worry about balloting (have nice sleep that night!) :celebrate:

Any reason why no one is considering Marymount Convent - since it's also a girl school and looks quite decent to me... could be a good alternative for those not able to get into SCGS and SMPS...

From past years registration history, pretty good chances. There were also lower no of registration for the earlier phase, leaving more places for grabs at Pase 2C...

I think only half the class are PVs.

Maybe the other half are 2C because I registered on the 2nd day afternoon around 3+pm. I could be the last few in 2B.

Oh, I was the first one to register on the 2nd day... guess not much business on 2nd day for 2B.

looks like a lot of parents are busy withdrawing and registering at their second choice schools

                    .....

                    5. The top 11 schools with the highest APP are:
                    St Hilda's (313%)
                    Rivervale (278%)
                    Rulang (262%)
                    West Grove (254%)
                    Nan Chiau (247%)
                    Jurong West (235%)
                    South View (233%)
                    Catholic High (222%)
                    Nan Hua (207%)
                    Mee Toh (204%)
                    Radin Mas (203%)

Parents should note that these schools are likely to require balloting within 1km, and there will be more losers than winners since the number of available places are less than half the number of applicants. Parents vying for these schools should seriously consider going for their 2nd choice schools in Phase 2C while vacancies are still available, which may also run out by Phase 2C.

it would be interesting and scary if majority of these registered are actually within 1km .... :!:

Actually, my impression is that many ppl are probably doing such things (buy a place within 1km of good school and rent it out). Then they use the address for P1 registration eg. they get a tenant with no kids so not likely to register.

I believe alot of people got away with that too unless there is a whistle blower. Personally, i feel that MOE has not come across hard enough on these people (who deprive other genuine case a chance in the school) so people are not really \"worried' that it will happen to them and would take the risk.
Parents can do what they want ... but dun get caught like this lawyer ... he really unlucky ... unless they enforced the renting to no-kids-allow ruling
