Yeah they look fierce but weimaranas have a nice temperament. Doberman are fiercely loyal to their owners so can be scary to other dogs and strangers. But these dogs aren't for first time owners.
Yep, don't think we can handle that.

I was told, to gauge the if the puppy will be a small or large dog, look at their paws. My retriever had big paws and true enough, he was a rather big dog even for his breed. Standing on his hind legs with his fore legs on my shoulders, his head is up to my ears. So I think he is about 1.5m or slightly more when on his hind legs.

Hmm, never thought of labradors though...Instead of golden have you considered a Labrador retriever instead? They have shorter coat so easier to maintain though they do shed a little.
To guard the house ah? I dunno about other retrievers but mine was hopeless as a guard dog. My terror of a terrier at 1/4 the size of my retriever was a better guard dog.
From your description of what you want, I keep thinking Beagle.
Beagle? Hubby doesn't like Beagles. Talking about large dogs who are lousy guard dogs... My neighbour has a super huge Alaskan Malamute, but he just lazes and idols around and doesn't even bother if we walk past.
We are looking at Border Collies.

Pure white! Difficult to maintain. Especially if they have a curly coat. Where did you see it being groomed?
Saw it at Pet Lovers.

Wow, your golden is huge! I viewed a 3 month old golden pup 2 months ago. They were so lovable and cute. Now, 2 months later, it has grown so much! That was when we decided it may be too huge for our family. But the golden coat's lovely though.

Do research more about border collies. They are beautiful dogs and They need a lot of exercise and that coat needs to be maintained.

Happy Mama:
Happy Mama, do you live on landed property? Border Collies need space to run around and to be constantly occupied.
